View Full Version : Banning IP's
Ok...I'm an admin on our TS, and lately when we ban someone it kicks them out of TS and says error! Then they just come right back in like nothing happened...even putting their IP in manually doesnt work either! The TS server is run on Windows 2003 server...any ideas as to why the banning doesnt work?
Have you tried to put the IP in manually ?

First off what is the error message being displayed?
Chances are they are using a proxy, but please post the error message as this will help determine the cause of your problem better.
Yes...i have put them in manually and when i close the box after hitting ADD then open it up again, the ips arent there! And what i meant by the error, when someone comes in and i click BAN Player...itll show in TS that the player was banned, but you'll hear a voice in the headset say error at the same time! So what im saying is that it doesnt show an error message, it shows a message like the person was actually banned!

I am having the same problem .. you hit ban and you get the TIME in bold red.. and then it kicks him...... but no ban... and you here the infamous ERROR!!
First there is a limit of 20 bans...If you wish to have the new bans to work you must remove others. Also if you run your teamspeak off your comp you can go into some firewalls and block them there, and block as many as you like ie,. (You can ban Ranges (255.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255) or single IP's xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx). *Remember wild cardings IP's ie (xxx.*.*.*) or ( xxx.xxx.*.*) or (xxx.xxx.xxx.*) *If you find a certin range is more active then others to save space on the 20 limit on the TS ban list. Hope this is helpful... :)
Is there any possibility that this 20 user limit for bans can be increased in the near future?
*edit* I see that this has been asked alot already. I hope someone follows thru soon. Link to my answer (http://forum.goteamspeak.com/showpost.php?p=86112&postcount=4)
ts3 if i remember correctly it will be more then the 20 , in the mean time if you run the server and it sits behind a router use your router to ban more ip's when you top the 20 mark .
i found the post see this http://forum.goteamspeak.com/showthread.php?t=12898

I believe that you can also use wildcards (123.456.*.*) when manually adding IP's in the INFO/SHOW BANS box

In that post he was talking about using wildcards in conjunction with your firewall if you run TS from your home computer. I am talking about a remote TS server and using the TS interface. But maybe I misread.
