View Full Version : Is Teamspeak smarter than it should be?

So I installed Teamspeak for use with World of Warcraft. I was annoying the heck out of my guildmates because they were hearing all of my stuff through Teamspeak (spell casts, etc). After searching the forums like a good little noob, I think I figured out what the issue is, but will be unable to test until I get home tonight. The question that I can't quite find an answer to is this: Would that same hardware misconfiguration (Pretty sure I have the mic settings goofy and it's using "What I hear" as my output) also cause a simulated environmental audio effect? Let me explain.

My voice echoes... indoors... in-game. It's the wildest thing ever, and I'm tempted to just leave it alone cause it's almost cool. When I talk over Teamspeak while INDOORS in World of Warcraft, my voice echoes as though I'm in a big cathedral or something. As soon as I step outside, clear as day, no echo. It's freaking crazy. I assume that World of Warcraft has some sort of environmental sound effect based on being indoors or outdoors, and it's somehow working together with Teamspeak to create this wild effect.

Here's my rig:

SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro
AMD Athlon XP 2400
Windows XP Pro SP2
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
1GB RAM

And my microphone is a studio-quality condenser mic that I use for music recording. The audio stream, so far as I can tell, should be moving as follows:

Microphone (RODE NT1) -> Preamp (ARTcessories Phantom II) -> External Audio Interface (SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro) -> Internal Sound Card (also SB Audigy) -> Teamspeak

I can't see any reason why the physical hardware setup would cause such behavior. I'm betting it's something in my internal mic setup.

Anyway, I'm on a tangent now. Just curious as to if anyone else has had a similar experience, or if fixing my mic settings will probably fix it. To be honest, I might be a little sad to see it go.

Im using the same soundcard as you and this is a very simple problem, open "surrond mixer" and go to the recoriding section and set from "whatever u hear" to "mic" and the echo will now be gone, if it isnt gone, go "surround mixer" and lower the mic (Im using 40%) and u may need to check on the output volum on your headset, and if you wear any headset just use "push to talk" in teamspeak "settings->sound settings" cant go wrong now!
