I have been having issues setting up a ts server on my computer. The computer has Win XP and is part of a network that is on a Netgear FR328S router. Originally I was having issues getting the ports open but after reading the info at Portopen.com I finally got that worked out. I can connect to the server with my other computers on the LAN using the LAN address but when friends try to connect using the IP address it times out on them within a second or two. They actually get connected and get the welcome message but they time out before their name even appears in the chat channel. What settings do I need to tweak to fix this problem?

Thanks for any and all help.

- all of your friends timeout ?
- do they timeout on other TS servers as well ?
- did you read the "no reply" FAQ ?

well I had them connect using the debuging method and it finally worked... for a day! Now only the computers on the lan can connect to the server again. I had this problem worked out before and as far as I can tell all the settings I changed to fix it are still the way they were when I finally got the server to work. But there is no outside connection now. I have even tried a router firmware update and reset all the permissions and port forwarding with no luck. What could have changed when I shut down the computer that would be preventing TS from connecting to the net again?

1) again: can your friends connect to other servers fine ?
2) If all your firends get timeouted, I could assume you have an unstale www conenction on your side ?

As far as I know is the current TS client a little bit timeout sensitive, people reported that with older clients they had success (they can be downloaded from the ftp server). Sry, I don't remember which client version they spoke off, but I'd try the one before 32.60.
Still, if all your friends timeout from your server, it makes me feel your connection is unstabel

Hi,

I have a similar problem with TS.
I posted a message on the general/general board, but I should have posted here :

I'm using the last version with the TS Server and Client on a XP SP2
my friends use the same client

randomly, everybody gets disconnected with a timeout (when we are playing world of warcraft) and ppl reconnect automatically.

I tried to remove the firewalls, no changes.
I'm using my local (127.0.0.1) address, so I'm not using my ISP connexion (I suppose) and even I get disconnected
I don't have a router, just a DSL modem
My connection seems stable, since IG, my ping never rises above 90ms and my bandwith is correct : DL/UL = 6Mbps/700Kbps (real figures, on the paper it should be 8M/1M)

So you say older client should do the trick, where can I find them?

Is there a way to increase the timeout setting?

Thanks in advance,
Christophe

sounds like you have your router set up , using dynamic lan ip's dynamic meaning your lan ip changes , so when someone trys to connect your router is port fowarding to the ip you set it to but becuse it is changing it "ts servers lan ip" no one can connect ? look in your router and see if this is the case , there are 2 urls to router help the second one is a bit better and may be of some help !
