I have used TS for several years and have never heard of this grand slam until I upgraded my system.

Problem: Note"All audio functions worked except TeamSpeak RC2"

1. Feedback cascading until it will blow your ears out if using voice activated mode.
2. The feedback stops after lifting the press to talk key if you use press to talk.
3. Sound recorder recorded perfectly, sounds played fine through everything except TSRC2.
4. I have a great deal of experience with both TS Client and server as well as TCP/IP and UDP.

This problem was observed in local test mode as well as when online.
"This is not the same as the echo problem listed in the FAQ"

I was using a high quality Plantronics headset, I even tried my backup headset, same problem.

This problem seemed to be audio looping through the chipset as if the microphone was on in the output volume control, "Karoke mode" the mic was not on in playback mode.

I am a computer professional.
Software XP Pro, I tried with and without service packs 1 and 2.
The problem started when I upgraded my p4 2.4 on an ASUS P4b533 to an asus P4P800-e deluxe, Realtek AC97 onboard audio.
I am using a new Antec true spec 480watt power supply.

I never could resolve this problem on this board even after disabling the onboard sound and trying two different pci sound cards, SB-live and a turtle beach card.

My next step was to try a different mother board "an Abit IC7-G with the ac97 sound on board "using different drivers and diffrent application to control audio.
Initially I had the same problem with the Abit board.

I noticed noise signals setting at ground "system voltage ground that is"
Next I noticed that the low level "in the millivolt range" background noise would increase with the activaty of my old "Weastern Dig 120 hard drive which was the only component in the system that was not new.

This led me to believe that the drive was going out "which it was, running hot and getting noisey".

Next I installed a fresh copy of XP-Pro on a different drive, made sure that the MB bios and drivers were all current. "nothing else was installed accept TS"

The problem was still there.
Without making any further changes to the system I started TSRC2 the next day to demonstrate the problem to a friend and TS was working!

Why it started working I still don't know.

I did web searches for TS echo, TS feedback etc... and found that many people have experienced this type of problem after upgrading thier system.

I provide tech assistance for a TS and game server seller / reseller and would like to know what the cause of this problem is.

I have and did use software that let me look at all running files, dlls, to the thread level, nothing looked unusal there.

With as many reports of this type of problem posted on the net, I would think that someone would have an answer.
Could it be codecs conflicting with drivers?

I would really like to know what caused this problem since it wasted about three days of my time.

If this should happen to a paying TS client I would like to have a solid answer for them.

Thanxz!, mglenn@altitude.us

I have noticed this exact same problem.. I am using the same Mobo (ASUS P4P800 E Deluxe with onboard sound AC97). I have fiddled with every single control, restarted multiple times using multiple drivers sets, and I always get that same, weird looping feedback that eventually rises to a sharp whistling.

It is absolutely impossible to talk into Teamspeak like this, and there is virtually no information on what can cause this. I'd like to know if it's a software bug or something before I dish out cash on a new soundcard. I know this one has problems - but mostly with sound cutting out, not on weird feedback that is only in TeamSpeak.

Is there any help on this available?

Have you already read this tutorial?:
http://teamspeak.buddha.eu.com/main.html

1. Some soundcards have their own volume control in the systray.
if not, do a search in C:\ for sound.exe ... mixer.exe
open that app and choose for both volume controls the microphone (record & playback)
2. check your recordvolume control in windows (like in the tutorial)
make sure to select the mirophone.

The faq worked perfectly - I hadn't fiddled with some of those settings, but that did it. Thanks a lot!

That tutorial should be linked in the FAQ, I feel. Maybe in a section called "other FAQ resources" or something.

Are you saying that you just got a new computer then took the hard drive out of the old one and put it in the new one without even reinstalling Windows?

The dude said he provided tech support and is a PC pro.

And me and him seem to be on the same boat. it's obviously teamspeak itself.

Look at my user rank. I'm a supporter and I say: It's not TeamSpeak itself.

TeamSpeak does not even have it's own recording control. It just takes what it gets from your operating system and does not mess arround with your sound settings at all.

rank shamank. The dude that spurts out his tutorial that hasn't seemed to help the 40 or so "echo" posts i looked at when i searched ECHO has a high rank.

And i'm sure teamspeak does have something to do with it. As I said it's the only thing that has an echo.

messenger? nope. Sound recorder? no. An unmuted mic and no TS? no. onboard sound with previous things? no Audigy 2 zs with previous things? no
TS activated test with push to talk on? yes.

the only thing that sort of helped was a dude who said something about mixer.exe. SO I looked in my creative folder and there was creative audio console. I poked around in there and unchecked the "mute speakers on headpone input" and "enhance 3d effects" It isn't as bad now. The FAQ or the "tutorial" was no help. But there still is an echo.

Yeah I have a similar problem. My mic works fine for everything else . When i first downloaded teamspeak it worked great, then the next day ( i did bugger all to the computer settings plugs or anything) i get the echo, where it carrys on untl i have an annoying whistle. I've spent weeks looking for the answer. i followed that tutorial aswell but nothing. it is annoying because when i play games like Battlefield 2 by the time i have typed what i want to say i am dead. i have phoned my support people and the only suggestion they had was that my mic is on the same speed as the net connection??? and it makes the echo because i have a fast connection. but i have a constant speed of 54.0Mbps and it worked fine before.

... Any ideas how to fix this?....

This sounds like 120% bullshit to me. The internet connection speed has absolutely nothing to do with the sound system. Who told you this?

However, you didn't give any information about your system so please read our forum rules (http://forum.goteamspeak.com/announcement.php?f=2) and act accordingly.

Hi all, I also have this problem and spend many hours to figure it out but no succes yet!
With MSN messenger, Roger Wilco, Skype and all other programma's using sound are running fine without these static noise, but in Teamspeak the noise is very bad. I hear an echo and a lot of noise on the background. This noise is so load that other people have problems to understand wat I m saying.
I tried a differend microfoon, differend headset and even a pci-soundblasterlive 5.1 soundcard.
But nothing helps.
Then I tried two different komputers, one with an msi motherboard (KT3Turbo) amd xp2000 and one with Gigabyte GA-8GPXP-DUO with pentium 3,4 Ghz. Also tried al combinations with different microfoon and headset.
But no results at all !!!
Can the internet connection cause these noises?
I have a cable connection, and a ARRIS Euro-DOCSIS 1.1 / Euro-PacketCable 1.0 Touchstone Telephony Modem HW_REV: 32
Between my modem and computers is a router (D-link DGL4300).
Any suggestions are welcome

Hi everyone :)

My problem is quite similar to the one of OP.

When testing in 'local testing mode' my voice and any soft noises get looped into an unbearable beep, untill I release the activation button.

This does not happen in any other recording/communications program.

I turned down every slider imaginable to rule out the option of TS accidentaly picking up other sounds.
I tried recording some music with my mic on, in an audiorecorder and the sound did not feedback (so my mic isn't picking up the sound from my headphones)
I've played with every possible option in TS to see if it made a difference (any option that I could find anyway :) )

The problem to me seems to be that TS somehow picks up the sound of my wave device. For example: when I play a game the other persons can hear the gamesounds I hear. They can also hear their own voice if I start talking too early (and even worse when someone else starts talking early). When there's no other sounds on the background, everyone in the channel can hear me fine.

Anyone have any ideas how this can be helped? (because I'm out of ideas :( )

Regards,
Nakama

(oh my setup: (nothing fancy though)

-TSRC2 v2.0.32.60
-Athlon 1800XP processor
-Asus A7V333 Mobo
-Soundblaster Audigy 2 (platinum? I forgot! >_<)
-Rest seems trivial to post :)
