I just downloaded teh TS2 server and started one. The problem is that I can'y join it, nor can anyone else. The only way I can join it is by the Local Addressbook. But I'll be all alone for ever. It's not because the fire walls are blocking it, because it doesn't work even if I shut them all off.

Here is the message i get when trying to join the server through the Server Web List:

[21:42:17] Connecting to 68.237.193.85:8767
[21:42:20] No reply from server
Maybe the server is offline
or maybe teamspeak is not running on it

Any and all help is highlly sppriciated
Thanks

No Sir, no routher. I have Virtual Internect Connection. DSL if that helps, but no roughter.

Do The Server And the Clien have to be in the same folder? I have 2 differant folders (the same name but placed on differant places).

This is directly from the log. Any ideas how to fix it?

22-04-05 16:23:03,ERROR,All,frmMain, unable to detect external ip

22-04-05 16:23:13,ERROR,All,WEBINTERFACE, FileNotFound: "C:\Program Files\Teamspeak2_RC2\httpdocs\favicon.ico"

1) client and server do not need to be in one folder ?

2) unable to detect external IP => see FAQ !

3) Are you behind a NAT'ed access => you have a WAN IP and a LAN IP ? If so you use the wrong IP to connect to your server => see "no reply" FAQ
else, I could only guess of a firewall blocking the connection

151.202.75.56:8767 This is the ip for the server I'm Hosting. There is no passworkd. This is coppyed directly from the Web Server List from Team Speak. I can see that It's up and running but no one can connect to it. The only way i can connect to it is by the local IP which i get by right clicking on the server icon, but since it's local I'm the only one able to use it.

Lastest update =)

151.202.75.56 this is my ip from a website that finds the IP. When I joined The server through the local ip, which is 192.168.1.47 and i click on the server name I see 151.202.75.56:8767 as the server's IP. But on the Web Server List i see 151.202.75.56:8767 as the server's IP. I hope this help and that anyone has any ideas. I'm desparate to get this server working :(

Have you read the FAQ threads I pointed you too ? I guess not else you would know why only you can use the LAN IP and why you only can connect by this IP.
You also gave no feedback for the port forwardign I asked you. If you're not expecting more help, this is fine, else pls answer the questions.

Yes, I have read them few times.

WAN IP: 151.202.75.56
LAN IP: 192.168.1.47
Server Port: 8767

No Fire Walls Blocking TS or TSS. No Routher eather. And no sir, no Net'ed access.

I understand that when I can connect with the LAN IP only is not a problem. But I do not get why people cannot connect to the server with the WAN IP. I have oppened the ports and even when I shut down all the fire walls I get no dice. I don't have routher so there is no way it's blocked by this.

Also Does the codec matter? If it does What should i set it to?

being you have no router it is something on your pc stoping the information a windows built in firewall , or a added applacation you have on , or your modem has some router propertys in it ? or even your internet service provider could be blocking ports on you ?

Peter__

No sir, the modem is old and has no protection, it doesn't block anything. As for the windows build in fire wall I even tryed dissableing it, along with my other fire wall (Norton Internect Security.) And I don't think the internet providor is blocking anything. I have friends with same internet connection (DSL) and they have no problems. I doubt the addware and spyware protection are blocking anything, because I shut them down too.

If you are interested in my modem it's Westell 2200
Any other ideas? Plz?

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the community and I just downloaded TeamSpeak and I think it just rocks :D! The only thing is I don't manage to create a TS Server: I have the exact same problems as Peter.

I use ADSL with only a software firewall (Norton Personal Firewall 2005), no router. WinXP's firewall is deactivated. The problem doesn't dissappear when I deactivate Norton Personal Firewall 2005.

I read the FAQ and unfortunately I didn't understand anything :(. How can I get my server to use my Internet IP (instead of my LAN IP, because I can connect to the server, but like Peter, only by using the LAN IP :().

Thanks a lot for your precious help in advance :D.

Cya later :).

How can I get my server to use my Internet IP (instead of my LAN IP, because I can connect to the server, but like Peter, only by using the LAN IP :().
- TS listens on all IP interface for traffic appointed to the port it is listening on (default 8767 UDP, NOT TCP !!!)
- So if you connect from the LAN, use the LAN IP of the TS server
- If you try to use the WAN IP/ webserver list from within your own LAN to a server in your own LAN and a connection is not possible, pls read the no reply FAQ again, you have missed one point in there.
- If you want to have people from the WAN be able to connect to your server, make sure traffic fro mthe WAN is directed to the TS servers IP address, usually done by a port forwarding
- sometimes there is a confusion between modem and router as certain so called modems act like a router as well (at least if seen such models in switzerland). They have a NAT layer => what means you need to setup a port forwarding as well. If you have a DSL access and you can atach more then one PC to the www, your "modem" needs more functionallity then a real modem can support. The models I've seen have a NAT implemented (=> port forwarding).
Pls, correct me if I'm wrong.

- if that still doesn't help, a firewall, packet filter eiter on the server PC, on the router/modem or at your ISP is blocking the conenction. Make sure you pen port for UDP traffic and not only TCP, TS uses UDP for the voice trasfer !!!
- If timeout problems occure, pls read the FAQ (no reply / timeout), in certain cases it is even necessary to use an older client version (As the current one is a little bit timeout sensitive)
- In certain cases, people behind a NAT have problems to connect to a server. A FAQ thread dealing with this (not all can connect) exists
- If your TS server PC has several IP interfaces you might also bind the server to one of this IP interfaces (see server.ini for bindtoIP)

Acc. my knowledge, this cover more then 99.999....% of all possible failures.

=> you don't have to bringt your Server to listen on your WAN IP, you have to direct your WAN traffic to the TS Server, that's the way to do it !
It's useless to tel la server "listen on that spec. IP" without making sure the traffic on that Ip is directed to that server.

@Peter
I'm a little bit surprised no one tried your IP so far ? I could take some time this evening and check your IP if you still need help ?
Is your WAN IP still valid ?

Thanks a lot for your help :).

But how can I find out if my modem has a router in it or not? (I mean, is there an application I could use?)

Thanks again in advance for your help :).

Cya :).

But how can I find out if my modem has a router in it or not?

ask you internet service provider , look up the make and model # using google or any other search eng. and find a manual or FAQ on it

if you have one WAN IP and several PC behind with LAN IP's, one of your devies must do the translation from several LAN IP to one single WAN IP => NAT => port forwarding

Or as said by others, read the docu or ask your ISP

@Peter
I tested the above mentioned IP (is it still valid) and a scann looks ok. However I could not connect => timeout

I also tested an older client version, as the current one seems to be a bit timeout sensitive but no success => if the IP is still valid and your server is running, I can only think of a router, firewall problem on your side. Update router firmware,...

Yes sir, it is still valid. If you want you can help me on msn real quick, that is if you have msn.

I have opened UDP and TCP port (8767) for it. Just to make sure.

Still no dice.

I have a not so advenced modem that doesn't have any routher functions as blocking ports.

I even shut off all my firewalls when i try to do something about the server.

Anyway, my msn is beast_killer_nybro*********

please contact me if you have msn. I really want to get this server up and going.

Thanks alot again

also, i had a friend who had team speak server and the only way to connect ot it was from the server list. Quick connect didnt work. You had to join from the server list for some reaons. If you want to try joining this way, the server name is: Peter's TS Server

Thanks for the help, I appriciate it
