View Full Version : Linksys WRT54G w/ client problem...
Hi all,
I just installed teamspeak 2 RC2 client on my pc. Im running WinXP w/ SP1. and i'm behind a Linksys WRT54G router. I'm not using wireless for teamspeak.
I read the website FAQ on client. it says that i do not need to do any configuration with the Router. i should be able to connect to a teamspeak server.
The problem is that most of my friends who uses WRT54G routers are having problem connecting to my friend's teamspeak server. we always get
"No reply from server
Maybe the server is offline
or maybe teamspeak is not running on it"
But! i got another group of friends who do not have a router. can connect to the teamspeak server. and they are using firewall.
Ok, i've tried disabling WRT54G firewall, can't connect. Enable DMZ, can't connect. Port forward 8767, can't connect.
I've tried all this when my friends are connected to the server.
Can some1 help me out here?
Did a search on linksys... gives me results on running server w/ linksys router.
Now i need client help.
- Yes, by using only the client you do not need to setup any port forwarding in your router. Just make sure no firewall blocks the connection.
- That many of your friends with that router have problems does not speak for that router. Is there a firmware upgrade (I still use an "old" Zyxel ADSL router) ?
- If your client log says anything about a "timeout" you might want to check the "no reply / timeout" thread. TS is a little bit sensitive to timeouts.
- If that stil ldoesn't help, check that FAQ thread: http://forum.goteamspeak.com/showthread.php?t=6418 (that's something the server hoster has to configure)
Hi guldi,
I managed to find a way to connect.
Its by Enabling DMZ and Linksys Firewall.
But what i dont understand is that i must leave all my ports open just to connect to the server?
Its not a gd idea to enable DMZ.
Is there any other way?
Hope u guys can help?
set port fowarding see my sig for details on setting it up
Hi m&m's,
i already tried port forwarding 8767 - 8767 udp and 8767 - 8768 udp.
i still cant connect. Only by enabling DMZ with firewall i can.
that smells heavily like a problem of your router (which is not too uncommon for cheap routers).
As I said, you do not need a port forwarding if you only use the client.
sorry i should of read your post better then i did !! the client does not need port fowarding as g man stated.
do you have a firewall app/program loaded on your pc ? or even a internet security app in either case you need to "allow" ts by application or port# thru the fire wall to get the client thru to the server .
hear are some url's that may help with router firewall? as I don't know if you have the v1.1 , v2 or the ca I included the link for it as well
Linksys WRT54G http://firewalling.com/linksys/wrt54g.htm
Linksys WRT54G v1.1, v2 & CA http://firewalling.com/linksys/wrt54gv2.htm
if you think it is your router 2 choices to test ! if you don't have too many setting saved in router you can hold down the reset button for 10 seconds witch will reset all setting to factory defaults including the routers password !and start over from scratch following direction in url's above... OR second is to plug your pc in to the modem and bypass the router and try to connect to server to see if it is a setting on your pc or a setting on your router so you can narrow your options and eliminate the router or pc as the proublem .. if you can connect with pc bypassing the router you know it's 100% the router stoping out bound connection , if you still can't connect there is something on your pc .. get it working then re-add the router back , retest connecting as there could still be something on the router to deal with get it working with out router first .
Ok. i've tried without enabling DMZ. No Port forward. Firewall enabled in router. No firewall loaded in PC.
In my outgoing logs, port 8767 is used with ts server destination ip.
In my incoming logs, port 1xxx (diff ports used for every connection attempt) is used with ts server as source ip.
This behaviour should be normal? but i still can't connect to ts server.

yes
but i still can't connect to ts server.
that is def. not normal ! Any firewall on that router blocking those connections ?
Even if i off the firewall in the router, i still can't connect.
I think its the router problem. coz i got friends who are using the same router are facing the same problem.
I already asked a tech support from linksys. he also dont understand what the problem is. he just say leave DMZ on for ts.
now i'm lost. dont know what to do next?
did you read post 7 ? did you try my sugestions reseting router & bypassing router for testing connection
m&m's i will try your method tonite. Kinda busy.
Will give u an update.
Thx for the help.
