View Full Version : Feedback/echo problems

I've installed TS2 on two computers running Windows XP with SoundBlaster Audigy 2ZS cards and Logitech headsets that came in the Collectors Edition of Guild Wars.

I can successfully get connected with both computers to the registered server. As soon as the second person logs in, the "link engaged" notice echos for about a dozen repetitions, as do any attempts to communicate. Sometimes the echoes build upon each other until it's just a mishmash of noise.

If one computer mutes the wave channel in the Play Control Panel, that person can be heard clearly by the other person, with no feedback. Unfortunately, communication is then only one way.

We tried lowering the volumes of the microphones and headsets to eliminate the feedback, but then it's too low to be of any use.

I've searched through the FAQs and other forums and haven't seen anything except that others have reported problems with Soundblaster cards.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I don't have a check box for the "what you hear"; instead I have a slider bar. If I move it to zero, there is no sound at all from my microphone. Reducing it did help with the echo, but it also reduced the volume of speaking to a whisper. I'm thinking my main problem is feedback from the left earpiece to the microphone, so I'm going to try using the mixer's balance slider for the microphone to the extreme right.

What exactly is "what you hear" anyway? I couldn't find any reference to it in the documentation.

I'm using the Teamspeak server, so I don't think my router is the issue.
