Can you build and post a Solaris (sparc) release of the server please? If you'd like me too, I'd be glad to sign an NDA and do so.

Thanks.

Can Solaris or Mac OSX run Linux binaries? (I know BSD can, using an add-on library.) In particular, can you run Borland Kylix-developed apps?

No, I don't believe so, but I haven't done much research on it. Even if it did, the prospect of having to depend on other external libraries is not preferrable...especially for an app that could be using a lot of cpu cycles (running as a server).

Given an option, I would prefer a version compiled under Solaris directly.

The reason I'm interested is I am developing with simclients on the SATNET flight sim/radar controller environment. Most guys use RW for voice comms, but I've always preferred TS. We also use RW a great deal in the newer MMP games like WW2OL where hundreds of people would benefit from a common voice server.

I'd like to test the capability of TS in such an environment, but I don't run linux (and have absolutely no desire to). I have many Sun an Mac OS X server on my home network. So, if you guys compile it for Solaris that'd be spectacular. And, if you need someone to port it, I'd be glad to. :)

Regards,
Mike

Than would only be possible if you are using an x86 chip under that os. If your using a different chip arch. then you can't.

Hmmm,

howmany times do I have to say this ? :) TeamSpeak2 is a Delphi/Kylix application, that cant just be compiled for xyz. Thats the main reason why all of the code is being ported to c++. Once that is done, it is probable that we build versions for all kinds of architectures.

Understand that completely :)

I realize you guys are porting it to C++, but I am wondering what you feel your timeline is on completion?

Also, if I can make a suggestion or two... I'm also one of those that would prefer to run an application such as this on a big, powerful, Sun box. I'm also of the opinion that if it can scale well enough, it should also take advantage of the 64-bit sparc processors it runs.

One of your competitors who shall remain nameless does have an 8-player 64-bit sparc binary, and load with 8 persons on it is about nothing. Quite the difference between that and their 32 bit version running under linux.

Seeing that the vast majority of Solaris installs are on SPARC, and the inherent problems in getting the x86 version to run with certain hardware, I'd leave that as a last resort, focusing instead on the sparc flavor.

Being in possession of several backbone-residing Sun machines, I would be available to do any sort of testing you might require, or which could be beneficial, especially for testing very large numbers of users.

good luck with the port, and hope to see the results soon.

All that i would like to know is if it would be possible for you guys to program TS to say the name of the user that has logged onto it. i realize that it would require some sort of letter recognition, however it would it would be most useful to those of us playing games such as BattleField 1942 DC or games as such b/c then we wouldn't have to switch to desktop mode in order to see who just joined. Thank you.
