View Full Version : IMPORTANT: How i managed to solve the Sb-TS problems
Well, after months of tryin i finally managed to solve all problems related to the Sb-TS-XP cards.
The simple way is: INSTALL THE SOFTWARE AND DRIVERS from the Sb Audigy 2 CD!
It works for Sb Live and Audigy cards!"!! PERFECTLY, all problems GONE!!!
Unbelievable!!!!
It looks like the Creative is hiding the solutions from us just to buy new CARDS! Well we managed to screw you Creative LOOOL!
UPDATE:
This won't be possible by wonderful ppl that posted it here:
http://www.driverheaven.net/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=33
Go there and you will see all the problems explained with detailec instructions how to install the drivers. be patient and read it all. There are several threads how to do that.
could you plz tell us which driver version it is ? or the release date ? (don't have the audigy2 cd on my desk ...)
audigy2 XP drivers :
no mention in http://europe.creative.com
"Sorry, driver files and software updates are currently not available for your product running under Windows XP. " in http://americas.creative.com
???
The link for the great forum thread and the great ppl who managed this to be possible: http://www.driverheaven.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5972
Dim, thank you very much. I went to the link you provided, searched for the drivers (wound up d/l a stripped version of the Audigy2CD) and just installed the drivers on my SB PCI512.
I now have NO MORE OCCURENCES OF STATIC AT ALL!!!!!!!
A great big CHEERS to you for that 1.

Excuse me. I feel so justified in my rants about creative atm. :)
Thanks for the info!
Hey,
creative rocks !!

Maybe not their drivers...but i never ever did anything else with driver cd's than break them in two halfs and throw them in the waste bin. :D

Yep. Great hardware, lousy drivers. Sucks!
NP fellas i was glad to help!
Thanks DiM,
I will pass this information along to my friends with WinXP and various SB cards and post its results in this thread!
there's a problem though: when you have no cd and you try to install the audigy drivers from the website on a system with a sb live card, the installer claims that theres no audigy card found and does not install.
as said in the faq, i recommend installing the kx project drivers drivers from http://www.kxproject.com .
they know how to code drivers for sb cards.
stay away from those creative-bug-drivers.

I just uninstalled all my SB live and installed the kx drivers, everything looks great - with the exception of my mic not working....at all. I can not get it to work in any program to include TS.
This static out is driving me crazy, I have tried everything to get it to work right....

hmm sorry, cant imagine why it's not working on your system..
check your recording settings at the mixer if source ist mic and the recording level is at maximum.
if that's not the reason,i suggest you post in the kx project forums and ask for assistance there.

I did, tried everything they suggested....no luck
I did however re-install SB Live and for some reason, last night was awesome....everything worked and I didn't create static for others in the game....

I had a lot of trouble with my teamspeak going to static when I would start a game or play winamp, or anything that caused a sound, it seemed. It was really unpredictable. I would start TeamSpeak and it would be fine for a short time, then my input would go to total static. I am running Windows XP Pro, a SB Live Value and the latest drivers.
I changed the settings from directsound to wave and the static has not returned. :)

I just had the reverse.
I was sending garbage every time I tried to use TS with a game and it made sound.
I went to fix it the way you said, switching from directsound to wave, but when i got in there i found i was already at wave.
So i switched it to directsound and now I dont seem to get it.
ill have to test it some more to make sure.
I guess somewhere in there maybe I have the reverse, maybe my games are set to use the wave and if I set the TS to directsound it doesnt conflict..
very strange..
Its only one game that i play, called project entropia, and its kinda buggy so maybe they are causing it..
I tried the suggested Creative drivers and had the same problem - horrible static for anybody on the other end when I spoke. I got the KXProject drivers and installed them. Now I have no microphone. It doesn't even show up in the sound control panel. There are NO devices listed under the Recording section. What's up with that?
TeamSpeak is totally unusable for me due to the horrible static for others when I speak. :-(

sound like someone doesn't want to hear you talk. ;)
1) have you tried the differant process priority settings? (high/normal)
2) have you tried the differant sound drivers (wave/directsound)
3)have you tried the differant devices [ I have two in each ]
4) you must have DX8.1 or higher
In case you are counting thats 2x2x2x2=16 differant combinations to try. and each time one is changed close TS and restart it.

I tried all that before you suggested it and I still have that problem. :P
There was mention via another thread that this 'bug' is fixed in the RC2 release of TS sometime next month. That is what I am holding out for.
Someone also mentioned, maybe different thread, that it occurs when the kernel usage of the machine spikes or goes high while TS is being used.
So maybe they figured out what the cause was and its just not ready for public consumption yet.
I am holding on to my chair in anticipation. :)

glad to see peoples that read the forum so well. :D
something else you may want to try is going one version backwards on sound driver, CL have bad drivers and KX are not much better if at all.
WOOHOOO! only 8 days MAX untill RC2
I really doubt that machine usage is a factor in my problem. I run a second machine to facillitate my spellcrafting. It is only a Celeron 333 with 192 MB RAM but the only things it is used for is web access, Leladia's spellcrafting program, and TeamSpeak. I have these sound issues when nothing but TeamSpeak is running. Absolutely nothing is running in the background. If that is too much for the machine I would be greatly surprised. :)

I rolled back to earlier SV Live drivers and last night everything seems to have been fine. Everybody said I was very clear with no static.

Got a member who can hear me just fine, but when he goes to speak, his mic get muted and he can't unmute it. Leaves, comes back and same thing over again. Everything works fine with Roger Wilco, but he has had probs with TS.
Sound Card: Sound Blaster Live! Value
Windows 2000 Pro OS
I don't know if he has DX 8.1, told him to check and to check for latest driver. Will see...
What the guys tell me they get is a horrible echoing sound no matter what codec, what drivers (KX, A2 or the original A1drivers). I tried Wave or direct and it just won't work with anything I try.

One thing that I haven't seen mentioned here is
mic boost
It is an advanced option of the microphone in almost all SB cards. Turn it off and it greatly reduces background noise that causes static.
Also, in the audio setting of the control panel...perform the "test hardware wizard". When it says to speak the paragraph, and you see that the slider automatically goes to the top...drag it down about halfway, and quickly press next b4 it goes back up again. This should lower your mic's sensitivity levels that cannot be adjusted anywhere else in the SB software.
I can't install the Audigy 2 Drivers.
"No Audigy 2 card found on your system"

I don't know what to do.

Hey does those drivers also work for a other soundcard then
a augidy? ,
I have a onbord soundcard (in the cpu) and teamspeak doesn't work look at my post here (http://www.teamspeak.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4872)
I have tried all of these solutions to try and rid myself from the Static problems....
The Audigy solution worked for a while, but I updated my drivers and everything went to pot again.
I looked at all of my settings in Creative AudioHQ and noticed that the record slider was only about half way up/down. I slid this to max and all the static vanished. If I slide it back to less than half way, all the static comes back.
That's my $0.02

I have the problem of:
When i am using tamspeak during gameplay, ihave no problems hearing others or talking but...... Game sounds are gone????
the game is bf 1942 dc mod.
I have TS set to direct sound (read that here in another thread)
whats my major malfunction?
How do i fix it?
Dummer Sack
19-01-2004, 14:24
Try to switch between DirectSound and Wave in the TS options.
If that does not help, then try to disable hardware accellaration in BF wich sometimes makes trouble with TS.
