i am running a AMD ATHLON XP 1700+ ,with 1GIG of PC133 SDRAM, a Nividia ETNT2 32MB Video card, intergrated sound, mic, and gamming port. I play Day of Defeat with a clan named New Century Gamers, and we use Team speak. the problem i am having is that i can play DOD all day long without having a overheating problem, BUT if i turn on TeamSpeak and go in to the game i can play for about 10min and my CPU overheats and locks up. I have tryed everything i added 3 more fans to my case, i went out and bought a copper heatsink, completly uninstalled windows XP and reinstalled it, iv reinstalled Teamspeak v1.5 8 times. is there a way to turn down the CPU useage or something. i dont know what to do. plz help me

I don't think, this relates to teamspeak...

You should stresstest your system to ensure it works properly. You could use the software prime... Prime will put your cpu-usage to 100% by calculating numbers. If everything in prime (let it run for about 24 hours) is fine, there propably is no hardware problem.

If prime reports problems or you get a bluescreen you should check your system (e.g. bios settings: use a less aggressive setting, overclocked?)

A good system shouldn't report problems even it is running on 100% cpu for month.

This is true, ts2 has nothing to do with your computer overheating. You seriously need to check your pc out before its to late and you have to buy another mb and cpu. I can run ts2, hlsw for dod, icq and other messenger programs and such without the problem you have.

I run with an amd duron 1 gig, 640 ram 133 sdram

Greetings, I had a VERY similar problem. It didnt have anything to do with TS. What it turned out to be was a problem with latency. It seems that the AMD XP 1700+ chip, (which I also run) and PC133 SDRAM, along with my ESC K7S5A motherboard do not run well together when my cpu/ram are set at 133/133 while running AAO and TS. The problem has been solved, by me going into my BIOS and switching the CPU/RAM settings to 100/100 rather than running them at 133/133. Now, it seems, my mb has been designed to run DDR ram, and although it also has slots for SDRAM, it wont run AAO and TS with settings at 133/133 using SDRAM. I put in a stick of DDR ram and ran the settings at 133/133 and had NO lockup. Maybe you are having the same, or similar problem and you to can change your settings to 100/100 and then have No lockup. I am sure that if you monitor your temperature right after the lockup you will see it isnt an overheating problem at all. My temp only rose 2 degrees celcius. :cool:

@Jonny Bravo
TS uses VERY few CPU power. That this can overheat your CPU is hard to belive. Did you really tested with a CPU Temp programm if the temp isgoing up when using TS and your game ?

Such "dual" RAM Boards have been reported to be very sensitive to what settings you are using. I never found a commendation for such a board. However it's interesting that it's in somewhat TS related :confused:

it's not that it is related to TS at all, I just didnt discover what the problem was untill I installed TS and then had to "look" for the problem. Even without TS running, my lockup would happen. It would only happen tho, when I was running AAO, and I was only running TS when running AAO. That is why I thought at first, it was a TS matter. However, after multiple tests, I then discovered it was a latency problem.:D If I never installed TS and AAO, I would never have known there was a problem, as the system runs well with settings at 133/133 when not running TS and AAO. I know this sounds a little wierd, it sure was to me, but, well, it happens. That is something I think ESC needs to address in the motherboard, and believe me when I tell you that they are gonna here from me about it. They did make a K7S5A Pro board now, and they may have fixed the problem on that edition. I dont know if they did tho, as I have yet to get a responce from them.:eek:
