TS2 is great makes roger wilco look like a POS, oh wait it is a POS, anyways, how come i cant change the sound driver from "wave", to "direct sound", i belive this is keeping me from playing EW and running TS2 at the same time, could it be the soundcard?

give us more spect. what windows, what soundcard?

Install dx 8.1.

Switch to direct sound in ts2. close ts2 and start it again. See what driver it uses.
