View Full Version : Is teamspeak dead?

I was just wondering since we can't use the linux version with mysql anymore. Things have sort of just progressed to the point where TS doesn't work anymore with libmysqlclient. And thinking about it, I don't think i've seen anything from teamspeak for around 2 years now. (other than you can start paying for it)
You state things have "sort of progressed" so that you cant use the libmysqlclient. Nobody can help you from that description. If you use the right versions and follow what INSTALL.mysql tells you, everything should go fine. Or if your files mutate "sort of", and suddenly "progress" to a point where it "doesn't work anymore", fix your system.
No idea how you conclude TS is dead, it sounds somehow like a stunt to get more attention to your post.

Well,
I kind of agree with him in the fact that there hasn't been an update on the new client features, or where teamspeak is heading. I know they have been working a lot on the licensing issues, but other than that there hasn't been a client/server release in a while.
So, lack of communication about the future of teamspeak, and the lack of releases makes us wonder if Teamspeak is "Dead".

Yeah... that's it... I was trying to get 'special attention'. Nice interpretation of my post sherlock. I didn't describe anything because both of us know what the problem is. Nor was I looking for the solution to a problem I already know how to fix. (yes, I know, install the 3.x client)
Problem is, things have 'sort of progressed'. As in 'I don't have anything that depends entirely upon the 3.x librarys being installed anymore EXCEPT teamspeak'. We are on the virge of yet another release of the mysql client. That means dbExpress that is used with Teamspeak has almost missed an entire production cycle of MySQL AB. At some point you start wondering if "this thing is dead?"
I don't know... "is it?".
That's fine and dandy if dbExpress is what somebody wants to use to connect to MySQL. It isn't needed but whatever floats your boat when it's your code. I just havn't heard anything from Teamspeak implying 'life'. Maybe I just havn't been paying enough attention.... Why do you think I posted a thread asking?

Upgrade mysql 4.1 and watch what happens, he is referring to the fact that there hasn't been a lot of work it appears on the teamspeak server/client in a while.
I use linux with mysql...

I still use mysql 3.x but for those of you using 4.x or looking to go that route have you installed the compat libs for mysql which contain both the 3.x and 4.x libs?

Yes,
You can work around it with but, the orginal point is there hasn't been any new releases or even beta releases for anyone to work with in some time now, and no direction towards upcoming features either.

if teamspeak were dead I would be stupid spending hours over hours on programming on ts3. Maybe I AM stupid, but that's something else :)

Thanks! That was all I was looking for before I got flamed pwk.linuxfan. I just havn't heard anything past seeing the domain change and the licensing thing. I probably havn't been paying enough attention though. :) I'll just use sqlite until you guys get ts3 out.
Anyways, thanks for teamspeak. I really do appreciate the software you guys create.

you tell um P
yeah its dead.
and few days already. \=
The work arounds for 4.0.X work but they don't work for 4.1.X
This 4.X mumbo is hersay at most.
I've installed the 4.1.X compat file and use the libmysql_r.so.10.0.0 and this does nothing more then say all their .sql files are junk and won't parse correctly to start the server.
So while we wait and continue the loophole of "follow this link for 4.X MySQL" most server admins are getting fustrated being stuck using 3.X.
Reason I'm not too happy is because I'm designing a TS Host Provider website and this means Money to TS Team for Licenses. So pretty much says my client can't develop TS2 to work with their New Server Software = No Money For TS!
Might want to look at it like that.
