I gave TS2 another go. DLed the TS2server to a OC3 server running Win2K Pro. Set all the admin stuff up, made sure the codec was running at 16.1 for best quality and had people join up. It was horrible, you could hear 2 or 3 guys and the rest were muffled.

I tried using diff codecs on the server and had the guys try 'wave' and then back to 'direct sound' just to see if that was the prob. Read the manual and tried everything...still horrible sound.

Maybe if you gamed with 5 or 6 people this would be a good program. I think BC is still the best for bigger clans...with all of our guys having cable and dsl connections, plus everyone has newer PCs, you would think that these newer comm programs would work.

Well,

The sound quality could be a bit better..

But I think the guys did a fine job on it..

I love the server options as well as the client..

Nice job guys well done...

well we use it with up to 80 Players at a time without any ( well almost any ) problems on a Win2K box.

Most of the problems are time outs but I guess that is due to Niels making the client a bit too agressive in what to consider a time out ;) .

However apart from this it certainly is a fine piece of Software from my point of view.

Maybe you should try to lower the Codec to see if that works. Even though it is an OC3 is it dedicated only to you or shared ? 16.1 eats a lot of bandwith...

I agree that the software is good. Interface and admin features are top notch. I was able to set a server up with no probs, everything was straight foward and easy to understand. Thats where the smooth sailing ended....

Some of the problems we were getting. IE Certain people not being able to hear each other, then being able to hear them when the server codec was lowered but the sounded muffled.
That's why I was asking if there was a setting to switch TS2 from client to server or peer to peer, or the other way around. Even though I am certain its client to server now.

The OC3 is shared by a very small company. Usually when we game we have the OC3 to our selves. Even so there is no way a company of 20 people can use enough bandwidth surfing the internet to effect a comms server. I ran a test when we were trying to get the TS2 server set up and it was off the charts. dslreports.com only measures speeds up to 5mb up and down, it was pegged at 5mb each way.

Setting the codec to windows celp 5.2 and having certain people use wave made it so you could understand what they were saying. The sound quality was real bad when we did. This was when everyone was at their desk top and not actually gaming. Maybe its designed to work in game only heh...We didnt try that.

Nope.. ts should perform the same (or maybe even better) outside a game.

The codecs we use are open source, royalty free codec. We dont have the money to buy a license from a compagny who specialises in those things, and we are just 2 man, who are not experts in voice codecs. :(

There are some codecs built into windows that might be a little better. But if we use those we loose linux (and other platfoms) compatibility, which was one of our goals.

You guys are the only ones who are updating your product. I see people complain in here, they obviously haven't checked around. Yeah I was bitching but it was more of a cry for help....the sound issue still baffles me.

All of the above haven't updated their product in over 2 years!!!
