I am a new user to TS, and am trying to set up a server for a Clan/Guild. As I read through this site, I saw on the FAQs of Pricing that up to 100 slots (What are slots? Slot = Person? Need to know that as well please, Thank You :) ) is free for a non-profit purpose such as a Clan/Guild.

Non-Profit Organizations

If you host a Teamspeak server strictly for non-profit AND you are not a commercial entity then you will not be subject to licensing fees. Each physical server that qualifies as a non-profit organization cannot exceed 100 slots for all instances of Teamspeak running on that server. If more than 100 slots is detected by our automated tracking system, your server may be subject to review (or suspended) and you may be held liable for ATHP-based or Single Server Use-based licensing fees.

EXAMPLES OF NON-PROFIT ENTITIES:

- An individual hosting a small Teamspeak server for their online gaming clan using their home Cable/DSL connection for non-profit.

However, when I go to Register, I get red big letters that Registering is not meant for a Clan/Guild and tells us to go to a link that has a list of many sites for servers of gaming.

"NOTE: Please DO NOT REGISTER unless you are a business entity and want to purchase a license OR if you are applying to become an Authorized Teamspeak Host Provider (ATHP). If you are gaming clan or just want to RENT a server, please visit our Authorized Hosters page. We do NOT provide server hosting. Registering is for the purpose of purchasing Teamspeak LICENSING ONLY. Thank you."

Why does TS contradict itself? I would really like to use TS for my Hosting needs.

First of all to answer your question slots are connections.

And all that license is saying for a person to use TS onhome computer for a clan/guild/whatever purpose can not a - charge people to connect and use it and b - not to exceed more than 100 slots per server config file.

And if your running TS on a dsl/cable connection at home with lets say all 100 of your clan buddies thats a - way to much noise. b - if your using TS with all 100 slots filled and playing a game your gonna probably lag out teribly because your upload prolly cant handle 100 slots.

Note, looks like TS doesnt contridict itself, you just dont understand. If you wanna use teamspeak with some buddies go ahead I seriously doubt your going to have 100 friends on two server configs and trying to play a game that just doesnt make sense. I'm not trying to flame your post I'm just getting facts straight, but maybe I'm saying it wrong, who knows maybe I'll get corrected.

Good luck in your venture,
