WaveInOpen error

Everytime I try and open teamspeak I get an error message that says "WaveInOpen" Attemtped to open with an unsupported waveform-audio format" I have a feeling this is why TS is saying that my mic is muted because I looked up WaveInOpen and it's something for audio input, but I was unable to find any info on how to fix any errors with it. Anyone have the same problem before? Or maybe know how to fix this error? Any help would be appreciated.

- update sound drivers (incl. directX)
- test direct or wave sound in TS
