I have "tweaked" many of the services in Windows XP to speed up gaming. I use 2 different Hardware profiles, and TS will not work on the Gaming profile. I know that I have disabled something it needs but am not sure which one(s). Can anyone tell me which services need to be enabled for TS Server to work correctly?

Here are the services I disabled:

I just read an articel about this windows services. In there they do not recomennd to stop services as they could not measure in any application a speed gain. However they noted that it's mostly a secret which services is actualy required for which function => this results in a simply test step by step which service you do not need if you really want to shut some of them down.
The articel was actually in c't (a german newspaper, I'd say the most renowned for techies)

To answer your question: no idea, sry

However I have a bad feeling about this one:
- Routing and Remote Access

My guess could be Windows Management Instrumentation or you can check if your firewall is allowing it to run(check Rules)depending if you run a 3rd party software firewall.

Some thoughts about services..Alot of the time when online gamers are having lag its because a program has a AUTO UPDATE FUNCTION. So your playing and boom *UPDATE* robbing you of bandwidth. Many programs actively are checking and have default schedules ie Firewalls, spyware programs,Windows updates and the like. You might want to go manual on these. You can always alt=tab out of game and check task manager to check running processes to confirm. When you over tweak services you run the risk of screwing up and creating network issues that you are trying to improve. Google search the service or the process first before doing anything is always your best bet.

Lastly not knowing weather you are DSL or Cable and how your ISP runs it service, I would not venture much more about the services you already have blocked.

You'll get the answer when you've read the service descriptions in microsofts mmc snap-in...
