I have exactly the same problem, but it's a friend who's having this. He has only a headset on (headphones with mic attached to it) and this headset is directly connected to his PC. We even tried turning off mic boost and I've tried to help him with other controlls but the sound controlls of windows are so difficult to understand. There's alot you can tweak and sound is not something I've gotten alot into.

Can someone please help us? The problem is that if I talk, and he holds his own talk button, I can hear myself even harder back then himself. This can't be because the mic picks the sound from his headphones, it's like the mic is playingback the sound the headphones receive. I have no idea how to disable this for him.

I'm kinda sick of hearing myself back in tenfold :P He himself has no idea where it comes from too.

Please help! :)

I recently spent 2 hours helping a guild mate out with the same problem. I went through everything and just couldn't figure out why TS chat was coming through directly. My last idea was to run the Mic test.

Control panel>Sounds and Audio devices>Voice>Test Hardware

It worked.

There is an FAQ entry about echo problems on the main site. Read it.
