Hi all, I'm a first time poster here so I checked the FAQ and I didn't see this. I'm a leader of a BF: 1942/2 clan and we're getting a new website. I was wondering, based off of the legal issues posted on the front page, if I could host the client files to download on my site? From what I understood, the message was mainly talking about server hosting (regarding front page).
Thanks!
Andrew

It is better do download the client and server version from www.goteamspeak.com
And it safer. (Virus,Trojan...)
But I think your clan members can download it from your site if the want.
It's not an offical download it's only for you.
I think thats not illegal, many others hosted the files on the servers.
But I would wait until an moderator an developer post here and give you the okay.
And if I'm wrong, moderators or developers, please correct me.

Ok, thanks! Just to be sure, I'll take your advise and wait for a moderator. The reason I want the files on my site for download is member convienence where they can just go to one location and get all the files for my clan's requirements.

You could just post this link on your website and with the Magic of HTML it appears they are downloading the file from your site.
ftp://ftp.freenet.de/pub/4players/teamspeak.org/releases/ts2_client_rc2_2032.exe

I know how lol, I'm a website developer in my spare time, I just need to know if it's legal.

Why wouldn't it be legal to link to a free application, on their website that is freely accessible?
As long as you call it what it is and don't lead users astray, there should be no legal issue.

Please send all sales/ licensing-related inquiries to sales@goteamspeak.com.
What has this to do with sales/licensing?
I only want to know if he can host the client files to download on his site

in the future we wont allow that anymore, there was to many issues with outdated / modified / viruses - versions of our product.
I hope we will still be allowed to link the files directly.

I hope we will still be allowed to link the files directly.
in future, you need also to accept our license agreement before you can download.
but you are allowed to link directly to that page / file.
