View Full Version : Gamevoice unit hangs
Hello all, I was wondering if any of you could help me with a problem.......
I have one of those Microsoft Sidewinder Gamevoice gadgets and my problem revolves around the 'team' and 'all' buttons.
If for instance I set up the 'all' button as "whisper to channel DEFAULT" then it works fine, i press the button, it lights up, i let go, the light goes off...but...
If I set up the 'all' button as "whisper to channell DEFAULT & OFFENCE" then when I press the button the light goes on as normal, but when I let go it gets stuck on. The unit is now dead and Teamspeak gets stuck on transmit !
I have to close teamspeak and remove and reinster the gamevoice USB control unit to get it to work again......
HELP !
Thanks,
Ellis Dixon

I have the same issue. I see the issue with the GV hardware whenever I whisper to multiple people at the same time, more than one channel, or the channel family. It only occurs with the GV voice device. The same options bound to the keyboard works fine. Just as you, the key hangs in transmit mode and everyone can hear me, but it will never release. I close out TS, and log back in and all is well.
I have tried the GV on a WINXP and WIN98SE machine with SBLive and a C-Media sound card.
Hope this helps.
Thanks

Same issue except for me it is the Team button. We have 4 channels on our server. I setup buttons 1,2,3,4 to whisper to each of those respectively and it works fine.
I set Team to whisper to all four at once and as soon as I push it it stays lit. Like another user I end up having to unplug the GV device and replug it for it to work again.
Thanks everyone, at least I know I am not on my own here :-)
Should of pointed out that I am running an XP system with a Soundblaster Audigy sound card.
Have tried on release 2.0.26.27 and it still does it.
Hope they have some luck at fixing the problem.....
Go on boys...you can do it
Ellis
p.s. I donated 5 bucks to your account via PayPal BEFORE this issue happened....does this get me priority support ? ;-)

Guess it might help if I gave more system info.
WinME here on a P3 1 Gig hertz machine. All the latest OS patches applied.
Also occurs if I boot to Win2K. I have not tried XP.
Hello Teamspeak team - have any of you had any luck recreating the gamevoice hang mentioned in this threads start ?
It appears it's not just me that is having the problem.
Thanks in advance,
Ellis Dixon

Try this thread. It appears to be a similar issue.
http://www.teamspeak.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2590
The thread you mention does appear to have some similar issues, but also seems to relate to a problem with AC97.
Anyway, to cut a long story short I have tried the patch mentioned in the thred with no luck :-(
Thanks anyway - nice to know that I am not the first with this problem. At least it should be easy to recreate, and hence fix.
Fingers crossed,
Merry Christmas,
EllisD

Did you check Microsoft for issues with USB controllers? If the USB device is hanging, then it sounds to me like it would be something to do with the USB device drivers. You should check their site as well to see if anyone has problems with the buttons hanging. - Just in case -
But I'm sure someone here is looking into that problem for ya:D

ok
Bug found and fixed. Actually this was a very serious bug in the whisper code. Both gamevoicepad and "normal" keys had this, but the gamevoice pad reacted differently.
Anyway, Thanks for the report. It's fixed in rc2

Hi Niels, I had this Issue wit GV Hardware and TS 2.0.26.27, i mean the "whisper-bug" is there a patch for download?
I solved my Problem with disconnect/reconnect it is the second USB unit on the MSI 6380 Pro/R board there is an Genenlink USB-Network-Controller on it, disactivation of this Port fixes the Problems on the USB port 1&3 so there is no Harware-Problem anymore...
If there is a patch could you please tell me?

hhhmmm I take it RC2 is an acronym for something other than release candidate two, but I am unfamiliar to what it refers or to whom Mark Rein is. Sorry :)

He refers to mark rein because the unreal tournament 2003 would come in 2 weeks for about 3 months :P

It's a little inside joke for the Unreal Tournament 2003 fans. I'm glad someone got it. ;) :D

Hi all,
I finally managed to fix my disconnect/connect issue with the MSI KT266 Pro/R (MSI 6380v1.0). It is no simple Mainboard-bug neither a Software-Bug it is a Power bug.
Because I set up my System with Keyboard-Power-ON USB-Power-Supply was done by the Standby-Line of my Power-Supply, this did not work, after setting it back up to Powerbutton on/off (with switching the Mainboard jumper, also) the Problem was fixed.
This is not very satisfying, because the Problem of loosing contact to the Software persists.
Here are two links that helped me to solve the Problem
http://www.heise.de/ct/Redaktion/jow/special/s3.usb.html
http://www.heise.de/ct/Redaktion/jow/boards/a.wakeonkey.html
they are in german but they helped me very much so anyway...
