My clan has a teamspeak server which I can't connect to. I highly suspect its the fact that port UDP 8767 is not forwarded. I'm at university and I don't think the IT Services will open the port so I'm in trouble.

Is it possible to have the server use common ports such as the one Internet Explorer uses? Would this mean I can connect? If so how do you change the port?

Only the Super Server Admin of the Teamspeak Server can change the port.
But can the others connect?
Maybe it's your firewall or something else. If you aren't allowed to change something then I think there is no solution.

My clan leader should be able to change it. If he was to, what port would most likely work? Other connect fine but I can't because of my university firewall.

I'm not sure if you able to connect to any server.
Because I think the firewall blocks every ports didn't needed. But normally you didn't need to open any ports when you want to connect with the client. You only have to access the traffic between server and client in your firewall. And I think thats your problem.

Actually our ts address is : ts3.caribehosting.us:9530

Does the 9530 mean its using it instead of UDP 8767?

Yes this means that your port is 9530.
And I'm also sure that you can't change the Port because you didn't get SuperAdmin Access because this Permisson has only the Hoster caribehosting.us
I think you can nothing do without change anything in the firewall and allow traffic of teamspeak.

Wud it be UDP?

Yes, it would.

Let me clarify some things. The server is running on port 9530. The client which I use needs 8767. If I requested and got 8767 forwarded then I can connect right?

Marcel, you say that they just need to allow traffic from teamspeak, but does opening 8767 not do that?

No I didn't have forward any ports for my client on pc an connect to all servers.
The Client didn't need port 8767 if you type SERVER:9530 then he connects on port 9530. I only allow access in my firewall settings that the teamspeak.exe is allowed to use the internet connection.

I got a reply from the IT department, they say due to security reason, they cannot open port 8767 for me.

Is it possible to make the client use a different port?

ScP

Sure. You're able to change a virtual servers' UDP port by using TCP query or the servers webinterface. You'll have to stop the virtual server first.

The client uses a random port. You can't change this.

Q: Which ports does the TS2 client use?

A: The TS2 client uses 1 udp connection. It uses the whole 1024-65535 (udp) range for source port and sends to port 8767 (udp) unless indicated otherwise.

Yes you can change the server port 8767 like ScP said. But you can't change the source port because this port is in the range from 1024-65535. In every connect another port. Also I think thats not your problem. Some firewall or something blocks the services. Normally you didn't have to change some ports or forward them in the router.

Unless I am completely not understanding the problem, which is entirely possible, I think the solution has already been stated.

Defrule should not have any trouble connecting to a server on the outside of the university network, which is where this one is, judging by the address: Actually our ts address is : ts3.caribehosting.us:9530 If he connects using port 9530, everything should be fine. The only reason 8767 would have to be forwarded on his end would be if he was hosting the server, which he is not, but then no one else would be able to connect if the port was not forwarded, which is not the case:Other connect fine but I can't because of...

Sending a request to the IT Services to have them allow the traffic of teamspeak. Hopefully they can't allow it and everything will be fine.

I e-mailed the IT Services department and asked them to allow the traffic of Teamspeak. This is the reply I got:

Apologises for the delay in replying to this. I'm afraid the ResNet
firewall is the thing causing you problems here, the outbound ports
required for communication via video and audio channels are blocked. We
would have to enable too large a range of ports to enable this program to
function effectively and currently our security policy is such that this
can not be put in place.

I'm stuck then am I?

I think i've got the same problem. I'm also behind a university firewall and when i tried to connect i got "No repy from Server" message.

Is there any way to get around this? by making a virtual server?

Let access of teamspeak in the firewall is the only solution.

so unless i get acces to the firewall i'm pretty much screwed?

you sure were not on the same university ? :p

Well i send a mail to my university web department and they told me a solution was to be found in this thread  so...did i miss anything?

But seriously, my University blocks all ports except those in the range
13001 tot 13005, can i configure my client so that it uses those ports?
Note that i'm not the TS admin, just a user.

Is it possible to divert the traffic of the client entirely to use an unblocked port? Is there a program that can do this?
