View Full Version : Strange echoes

I've read the FAQ on fixing echoes, but it doesn't seem to apply to my situation. When I'm talking on TS, I hear echoes of myself, but others on the channel don't. Thing is, I can tell the echoes are coming across their channels because there's a delay; I hear what I just said 2 or 3 seconds after I say it (very confusing). All other members are using headsets, so I don't think it's their mic picking up output from speakers. When I "Activate local test mode" I hear myself, but delayed only a about a half second.

Any ideas?

START MENU --> SETTINGS --> CONTROL PANEL --> SOUNDS AND AUDIO DEVICES
then:
select tab voice -> voice playback -> volume --> (volume control opens) tick the radio button below the mic slider (itīs called "mute")

That appears to have worked. Thanks!

That didn't work at all. I'm still getting echoes of my voice from my teammate's end of the client. Again, I know it's from his end because there's a delay of 2 or 3 seconds before I hear what I said (i.e. transmission time, as opposed to the less than 1 second delay just from running through the processor on my end). It's like his mic is picking up output from his speakers. But his speakers are off, and he's only using the headset. That means the crossover must be happening internally, doesn't it?

My teammate has tried this fix as well, with no success on my end (but he is not having the same problem I am). I'm beginning to think this is actually a problem with his setup that is just affecting me.

Any other ideas?

Tell your friends to use headsets instead of desktopspeakers!!

If one of them has a wrong soundsetting he will spread echoes to everyone in that channel.
Try to find out WHO is causing the echo!!! The one who causes it can has a green light beside his Nick.

Tell them/him to read my sound settings tutorial:
