this is what I found:
WSANO_DATA (11004) Valid name, no data record of requested type
Berkeley description: The requested name is valid, but does not have an Internet IP address at the name server. This is not a temporary error. This means another type of request to the name server will result in an answer.
WinSock description: Same as Berkeley for host resolution. For protocol and services resolution, the name or number was not found in the respective database.
I'd guess that you used DNS to connect to the server. Perhaps you should try its IP.
I hope that solved your problem...

you cant.
Either your isp's dns server is messing up, or the dns server where the domainname is hosted.
You could contact your isp to inform them of the problem if it persists

Hello,
I know you guys tell people to search the forums, but there are like 20 hits to look through. It is a pain to get to this thread. Maybe there is a way to sticky this or tell people to search for something more specific than just "11004" please.
The problem is from DNS resolution taking too long, and I've had the problem for almost two days now. Using NO-IP because I have a dynamic IP address, I get the Socket #11004 error now. It is something new, and I'm sure it is on NO-IP's end. They do not give support to free accounts, <grumble>, and their online information blows. I'm trying to get support by upgrading to an enhanced account. Either way, right now their free accounts (at least mine) do not seem to be resolving even though everything is configured correctly.
Do you guys know of any other service like NO-IP that offers one resolution for free? I only need one for my TS server! I don't want to stick with NO-IP if their customer service sucks and they continue to have problems. I thank you in advance for your help!

Hello,
Yes, the IP works, but that wasn't my point. 8-) The reason we use services like NO-IP is because we don't want to give our TS server users a new IP every time our cable modem's IP changes. TeamSpeak works flawlessly! It is just that NO-IP sucks. I know you guys here recommend it, but I have been very unhappy with their service. Anyone using TeamSpeak with NO-IP's free service will get the Socket Error #11004 and #11001 frequently. Their resolution of your IP, even with the client installed, is slow and sometimes simply doesn't work. I'm no expert on DNS, but it seems their DNS admins there could use a little more practice and skill frankly.
This recent problem where it had stopped working for nearly 48 hours straight was the end of the line for me, and I got off the NO-IP train so to speak at that point. The service simply isn't stable enough, and their customer service is lousy to boot. It took me almost two days to get a response in emails, no one answered any phones during actual business hours even, and there was no notice placed on their web pages explaining the problem. They simply chose to ignore their customers and force us to wonder for two days. Companies can do a lot better imho.
When their free service is like I have seen it, I seriously doubt paying for an enhanced account now also. I've switched to dns2go, and their client is much more user friendly, so far their resolution is lightning fast with no socket errors, they have live online chat for support when you need it, and their customer support seems far better than NO-IP. I highly recommend dns2go at this point, but my time using their service is limited. For those of you serious about not losing your DNS resolution to a dynamic IP, I would suggest using both services at once. That way if one company is having problems, all you have to do is instruct your users to use a secondary / backup DNS.
NO-IP supposedly works again now, but I haven't tested it. I do plan to keep their client installed to have two solutions in place at once. If the dns2go fails, my users will just connect using a second domain name.

works perfect for me. Never got DNS Probs !
Don't forget, your using FREE services !
being a business owner myself i can see the frustration ove r the lack of 'better' customer support. just by what ive seen over the past few days it seems as if TS is a small company that relies on donations. i give my hands down to the coders and people involved that put this program up for people like us to use.
on a different side of things. they may need to look at a better business 'plan'. they have a great product that can use some fixing but they do need to charge a fee for there 'better' version and present it in a way that would make you want to pay for it. a simple notification to present and future customers stating that they changed there 'operation' per say would help....maybe.
but for those that complain about them not answering phones and not replying on 'time' is due top the fat that these guys dont pay someone to answer the phone and do customer service...etc.
we can talk about this all day and im sure i can keep writing more on this topic. my point being is that hopefully TS can generate another revenue model and get there business off the ground correctly.
no need to reply to this. just woke up and drank some coffee.

Hello,
8-)
I absolutely love TS! My complaints are towards the customer service of NO-IP, not TS folks. This program and the people working on it are terrific. The only thing I worry about is a company like Sony Online Entertainment buying them out. hee hee I look forward to a final release, and I know they will make good money off such a wonderful product. TeamSpeak puts to shame all the other products out there similar to them. If they charge for the service, I'd be the first to pay for it. The only thing I would ask is that they charge for the server version and leave the clients free. I'm willing to pay extra for this. If people have to pay for the client, a lot of my family and friends would stop using TS I suspect!
Anyway, you seemed to think I was complaining about TS, and I am certainly not. <smile> They are awesome at support, and their responses on this board are extremely helpful and swift!

i agree with 100% on your reply. the should charge for the server end. and leave the client free...and maybe sell an optional support for a year for the client version if the customer wants it.
i wasnt direnting the email towards your reply in anyway...i was just reading others people posts and most had some sort of thing to say about not responding to emails and not answering the phone and the such.
i use ventrilo for now because i keep getting the socket error in TS. but im also using the DNS and not ip...so that should fix the problem??? hopefully.
anyhow, enough rambling on my end.
take it easy.
