View Full Version : Teamspeak kills my games...serious lag

I've searched through the forums and thus far, have found no solution to the problem. What happens though is that whenever I try to play a game online with Teamspeak also running, it immediately begins to drop in framerate until it hits around 2-3fps. My specs are:

Intel P4 3.6GHz
1024MB DDR2-533 PC2-4200 RAM
Nvidia 6800 256MB PCI
SB Audigy 2 ZS
DSL Internet with downstream of 3360KBits/Sec and upstream of 864KBits/Sec

Outside of games, TS works without problems. Playing games without Teamspeak gives me a ping from 20-50 and an FPS of 60-120+. However, running Teamspeak with any game causes it to lag horrendously, to the point that the game is unplayable (I usually do BF2/COD2).

What do I need to do to get the damn thing to work properly?

I'd try a driver update, sound, directX,....
tested wave or direct sound in TS ?

in teamspeak go to options and go ot bandwith and change the upload and download to a smaller number, that will free up some bandwith and allow more of it to go to the game, the lower u put it the less it will take up,

Even on the 5.1kbps bandwidth. I've tried that, trust me.

Oh, well I tried some stuff out while I was typing this...I switched over to Wave in Settings -> Options -> Sound Driver, and although my Audigy was selected, I hit apply for it anyway. Went in to a game, no problems at all.

Thanks for the help!
