I've always had problems with TS 2.0 with Mechwarrior 4, using either Black Knight or Mercenceries. The problem I've had is voices get cut off, static, poor performance. When playing any other game there is no issue. Everyone else on my teams experience exactly the same problem within TS 2.0
About the server:
TS 2.0
P3 450 MHZ
384meg RAM
windows 2000
Directx 8.1
DSL 786K down / 128K up
Max 8 players.
Lowest codec: windows 5.2 celp
The server is only using TS 2.0 at the time of gameplay. Isn't currently using anything else that using any of the bandwidth. The server is at another location that isn't involved with the Mechwarrior game. The server is just providing Voice comms for the game. The server doesn't get used by anyone, it just hosts comms.
About my PC. (client)
TS 2.0
AMD 2.2Ghz
512 Meg Ram
Windows XP Pro
Directx 8.1 (obviously)
Cable 768k down / 128k up
I've downloaded a software package to monitor the bandwidth (mainly the upstream) of the voice server and with 8 people on it and set to the windows 5.2 celp codec the upstream utilitization doesn't really go above 1/5 of the upstream bandwidth. I've tried changing the codec to a better one like Celp 6.3 or even GSM 14.8 with the same people online and playing MW4 and we still get voices being cut out. The problem even happens when we are in the MW4 mulitplayer lobby (not actually playing). I can safely say that only one person was a 56k'er. Everyone else is on some type of fast connection (DSL, Cable, wireless microwave) and everyone is having the same problem.
Is anyone else noticing the same problem? Can anyone who plays MW4 reply with a little statisics on their system and the experiences that they've had with MW4 and TS 2.0.
TS designers, do you have any suggestions?
