I spent an hour yesterday working with to gamer friends trying to get set up with TeamSpeak. They are very experienced with the program but they were never able to hear me. The game sounds came through but not my voice.

I have a Compaq dc7100 and it has a headset and a mike port on the front which I used. (I did try the two ports right off the sound card in the back with no luck.) They had me set the Options to Push To Talk and we were all connected on the same server. They could hear the game sounds and music from me but they couldn't hear anything I was saying.

I am using an Altec Lansing Headset/Mike and I made sure that it wasn't set to Mute and that it's inline volume control was about 3/4 of max. I even exchanged the headset for another one to eliminate the chances of faulty equipment.

The game was Star Wars Galaxies and the two friends use TeamSpeak all the time when playing this game.

Any help anyone could give would be greatly appreciated!

In recording control change the box that is checked under stereo mix to the box under microphone. Depending on your specific sound manager there are different ways to get to it. They need to make a sticky for this. In a nutshell basically your input device is set to stereo mix and not microphone.

First of all, thanks for the response! :D

I'm assuming that the adjustments you describe are made on Windows XP menus and not on any menu found on TeamSpeak.

I found a microphone "wizard" under the Speech category on the XP Control panel which comes the closest to matching what you suggested and will try it out this afternoon. Naturally, if this is not the right one, I promise not to get my feelings hurt if you correct me.

Finally, you're right about the sticky. There are a lot of technoN00bs like me out there that are just now trying to get on the VoIP bandwagon and need all of the help they can get.

Try right clicking my computer -> Hardware tab -> Device manager -> Sound, video and game controls -> and look for anything that might look like your sound driver.
