Hello little helpers!

I have a Problem with teamspeak (as you must have expected):
My Pc and the one of my Friend are not very up to date (athlon 600, geforce 256, 400 MB Ram, Win xp/ 98). Teamspeak works well as long as we are not running something else on our machines, but as soon as we start the game we want to play (neverwinter nights), the sound is getting so choppy that we cant understand a word. The Problem is not the bandwidth, because when we "exit" the game via the Windows- key, it gets better again, although we are still connected.

Ive Already set the Process to high Priority, but this was little help. How can i minimize the cpu useage, which is the best codec for my problem?

And if all of this doesnt help, may another program like Battlecom be less powerhungry?

thanks

Does it make it with other games too?

...i have nwn and it take a lot of cpu usage to run on my machine...

....maybe it;s the game not teamspeak that it;s "powerhungry"...

Ive tried it only with nwn, and, sure, nwn needs the biggest part of CPU Power, but nwn is already running at minimum details, so optimizing TS is the last option I have, apart from buying a better machine:rolleyes:

I've a 650'er with a 256 GeForce too and I remember (when I used it for playing and TS) that older games run fine but newer one's, such as nwn,... puhh !

But, TS istn't the problem in your case: nwn is using the full CPU time so TS won't get a chance to run smooth.

You could only test different codecs or set TS to high priority (in TS settings), but this will probably slow down nwn.

I just read in a german test about nwn that the min. requirements the manufacturer stat for nwn with a PII 450 MHz are too low to play the game even on lowest settings.

I guess you need a faster machine (not the answer you wanted but...

Correct... u should try it with some other games and see if u have the same problem.. nwn is really "heavy" game for the machine... especially during combats with magics and stuff...

on a p3 500 ts2 user less than 8% peak cpu power (in my experience at least) and its more around 3-5%

Granted that is heavy, but thats the price for Sound Quality :P

When even Mr Werensteijn doesn't have a solution, then I have to face reality:
I anyway wanted to buy a new machine soon, so its only a few months earlier now.
Thanks to everyone who tried to help me!
