View Full Version : Sound breakup and disconnect

I have been using TS for about 2 years with no problems what so ever. Last week after a Windows update and reboot, I am now having problems that make it difficult to use.
I can connect to any server, everyone can hear me perfectly, but everyone elses sound is broken up. Most of the time I will then be disconnected from the server (timed out). Also when no one else is on the server, I will be disconnected after a few minutes even if I am making noise.
I have tried reinstalling TS, deactivated Sygate firewall, closed most active programs but nothing seems to help. I did connect a couple of days ago and it worked perfectly, but the next day it was back to not working.
Please can someone help as it makes playing competetive matches difficult when you can't understand your teammates.

I have had the EXACT same problem and it did work for me a couple of days ago aswell.
I have searched the forums and have found similair problems but there has been no responses that have worked.

I also just noticed this in the TSClient.log when logging in

19-02-06 21:02:03,1696,WARNING,All,procedure TDICallBack.execute,"The operation had no effect." or "The device buffer overflowed and some input was lost." or "The device exists but is not currently attached." or "The change in device properties had no effect."

That is the only message in the file, no entry for when I get kicked.

Also when I get timed out, if I try to reconnect straight away it says I am still connected to the server.

Again, same problem. But when i have logged in using 'quick connect' i can see myself logged in from when i used 'connect' and it disconnected me.

I have just tried quick connect, and I have now been logged onto the server for 15 minutes. There isn't anyone else here at the moment so I don't know if the sound is working properly.

One thing I have noticed is in the Firewall log, when using quick connect I have 2 running teamspeak entries. 1 is a UDP listen entry with no remote port and no IP address connection. The other is a TCP connect entry on remote port 80 with an IP address.
When using normal connect I only get the UDP listen entry.

I guess this means it isn't connecting fully to the server with normal connect.

I have exactly the same problem.

Seemed to happen after i installed updates for my windows.

Now i've deleted teamspeak and tried to download it again and it wont let me.

Someone needs to find a solution to this.

Maybe if i put some abuse in the message an administrator will take notice???

TS is working for me today strangly... i did update my sound card but had no immediate affects until today(even after restart). Just try updating your audio and sound card drivers.

I don't think it is a sound card issue, but I will have a look.
Now today it won't let me connect at all with normal connect, it says server not running, but I can connect straight away with quick connect.
I think it is network issue or program issue, maybe connected with windows update.

its funny that u mention windows updates because i have just recently upgraded to SP2 and installed all the updates. Do you think it is an issue with the new security software...doesn't explain why some and not others experience problems.

Might ask a microsoft tech to have a looksee at the TS program.

Out of interest...what sort of system are we running???

I'm:

Pentium 4
ATi graphics
C-Media AC97 Audio device
Windows SP2

It seems to work fine sometimes but not others.

More often not

did you tested the debug mode of TS (recommended in the timeout FAQ) ?
Your problem sounds as if you'd have random connection problems. To find out if they're on your side (your network config, your ISP) or server related, try some other TS servers. I'd not be surprised if it's an ISP problem...

I have started to use a program called the 'Zilla Connection Accelerator' its freeware and it has managed to change my TS performance in a sense that:

I had to increase the number of bytes sent within a packet to a server without a reply setting.

If any computer guys can relate this to the problem maybe they can explain the problem.

I am running in debug mode, doesn't help.
Tried 2 different servers running on completely different IP addresses.
I don't see it being an ISP problem, as TS has always worked before and every other program I use works fine when connecting to the internet. If it is then it is because TS is written badly for packet transfer.
I still think the Windows update has changed something that it shouldn't have.
