[15:31:03] Connecting to 70.84.170.226:8785
[15:31:07] No reply from server
Maybe the server is offline
or maybe teamspeak is not running on it

Recently (for the past two weeks or so), I have not been able to connect to my guild's TS server. After checking if I could connect to any other TS servers, I have found only one out of four tested that I could connect to.

The servers I tried were:

70.84.170.226:8785
www.fob2k.com:8767
voice.clanservers.com:8774
TS test server

The only one I could connect to was www.fob2k.com:8767.

I am wondering what I can do on my end that might solve this problem. I am on a college network, and in the past (last semester), I was able to eventually connect to most/all TS servers. By that, I mean that if I kept trying to connect over and over again, I would sooner or later be successful. In addition, when I did connect, I would occasionally get disconnected from the TS server and have to go through the entire connection process again.

It seems that this semester, the IT dep't has done something to the network to make it more reliable/fast. I know very little regarding network administration, etc, so this is just a guess on my part.

When the problem with my TS connection began, I also began to experience problems connecting to World of Warcraft; once I was actually connected however, I always had low latency and would never get disconnected. My school's IT dep't was surpringly responsive in fixing the problem; according to them, they opened the necessary ports on their router and created a subclass (?) which would allow for a fast connection to the WoW login servers.

Basically, my question is this: What can I tell my school's IT dep't to do to fix my TS connection problems? I have already gotten to open port 8785 on the router so that I can connect to my guild's TS server (70.84.170.226:8785). This has not helped; I still can't connect. What else can I do?

I assume a timeout problem ? => http://forum.goteamspeak.com/showthread.php?t=19293

If that doesn't help try an older client (from the FTP server you got the actual client 32.60).

For the most part, this isnt a timeout issue;

Most of the time, I see the message I posted above:

[15:31:03] Connecting to 70.84.170.226:8785
[15:31:07] No reply from server
Maybe the server is offline
or maybe teamspeak is not running on it

In a few cases, after I got lucky and was able to get to the next connection step, I saw timeout issues. However, in the case of this particular server, I have gotten my network administrator to open port 8785 (though not 8767, default TS port). Once I am actually able to connect to this server, I have no problems at all in terms of lag, disconnection, etc. The entire issue is being able to connect in the first place. For the most part, I am not able to connect, no matter how many attempts I make. Once in a while, after trying to connect several times (usually 10 or more times), I get lucky and am successful.

I am wondering if I should have specified to the network admin to open port 8785 UDP and TCP. Also, I did not request that the default TS port (8767), be opened. However, I am able to connect to the server www.fob2k.com:8767 which uses port 8767.

At the moment, I am trying to download an earlier TS version, however I am only getting a connection speed of ~1 kb/s, so it will take a while.

Also, here is the log:

Alright, so this is a timeout problem.

But, what is strange is that once I actually successfully connect to the server, I have no problems from there.

For example, after attempting to connect about 60 times yesterday night, I was finally able to get on. That was about 12 hours ago. I have been connected since then.

The issue is based around the actual inital connection process. Once I get connected, I do not get disconnected, I do not experience lag; in short, everything works perfectly.

If you have problems, try using quick connect.
You are not the only one with these problems, other than me with a similar problem, I know of at least 5 others, that get timeout, and everything in the FAq doesn't help.

Quick Connect doesn't work, reinstalling doesn't work. Nothing works...
