Hi everyone. :)

(Yes, I looked in manual, FAQ and previous posts in forums - beside I've had troubles before, so I almost memorize the whole server support forum :s )

(I realize it's a long post, but I wanted all the details in - I hope you'll be patient with me) :)

I recently started my job as a "server admin" hosting a teamspeak server for my still small clan of my PC. In the future, the server will of cource go on host, so it's always on, but for now, this is what I got.

I was connected to the server and being in the default channel (my flags would be R SA CA in the situation, dunno if that's helpful) Another member was also logged in, on the same channel - with (R CA) flags.

And then this dude logs on (U), and says "Hola"... I was in a game, that I minimize to see, who the frick it was. I asked him "Who says hola?", and he didn't reply, so I asked him what he was doing here, and he said "Owning your server"

That puzzled me, but he logged of, before I could even get around to banning him, and I hadn't the extra logging options in the Server.ini configured - so I haven't got his IP.

I maximized my game again, and the computer crashed so bad, I had to restart it. That made me suspicious, as my computer has never crashed before, and I hadn't any programs or task running, that I haven't usually got.

I had to restart (which makes the server go offline). And as I got all booted up, I didn't start up the server for an hour, thinking that he probaly would find a new victum IF he was a hacker. So after an hour or so, I close my 8767 port, and open the server, so that it's only accessible on LAN. And then I want to log on the webadmin panel, to see, if my settings have been changed. I couldn't log on. When ever I had typed in my login information on the Superadmin login, it loaded the client/admin login page instead, and I then tried my admin login, and once I click log in, it resets page and clears forms.

I tried opening the port in the firewall again to see if it had something to do with that, even though I found it hard to believe, as the Weblogin actually is on the localhost, and shouldn't connect to WAN. I tried anyway - same result.

I extracted my original passwords from the log file, thinking they might have been reset. When I tried using them, I got "Log in failed" page, when I tried logging on. I tried logging on as Superadmin, admin, backup admin user (a user with a reg. username, but admin rights, I have, just in case), and 3 registrered user accounts. No dice, either it reset the form fields, or I got "log in failed".

I figured, it might be an error or corupted file, so I shut down the server application, uninstalled everything, and installed the whole thing again. That was, I could also be sure of, that the passwords were correct.

Same result.

I then uninstalled, and installed again - but to a different directory

Same result.

I can log on the server through the TS 2 RC client, also on the admin account (thereby confirming the password), but not on the administration page.

Two of the logins resulted in the login being succesfull - and I got the CP - but as I clicked any item, it reset to the login page again.

I dont really care about having to recreate accounts and channels, and all that stuff, I'll have that done in an hour. So I'm prepared to do radical stuff, np.

Also, I should mention, that I performed the reinstalls with no internet access, and attemted log on first without WAN access, and then opened up, as it didn't work, which gave the same result.

Now Im on forth reinstall, and now it gives med a 404 error, when clicking "Administration" in the right click menu of the tray icon. It seems really unconsistent, and I haven't really got a clue, as to why I cant log in, even when reinstalling the whole thing, without reusing any files from the previous install.

Any help will be greatly appreciated ! :)

System specs :

- GenuieIntel Pentium 4 3,2GHz HT
- 2512 MB DDR2 PC 4200/533 RAM, in symmetric DualChannel with 1256 MB in each channel
- Geforce 6600 GT 128 MB
- RealTek High Definition 8ch Surround SoundCard

- Almost static IP (it uses a 2nd IP adress every 7 days or something like that, but usually it doesn't change)

- Windows Firewall disabled
- ZoneAlarm Pro (UDP 8767 opened for Teamspeak - works fine)

- Windows XP Pro SP2 - fully updated

If I forgot something relevant, let my know, and I'll try to find the datas.

Thank you

Im not really sure why - but it seemes like I've solved the problem.

I decided to change everything before trying to connect to webadmin again... So I made a new directory, renamed the windows_server.exe file, changed the ports all around, and made sure, nothing was at default.

Then I tried putting in http://localhost:14534 (just an example, the actual port is not default). I vent 404 on me, so I tried putting in my IP, even though it should still be localhost. So I vent for http://xx.xx.xxx.xxx:14534 which for some reason worked. And I could log in, using my information, after 3 attemts, that ended like described in my main post.

The first thing I did was change the UDP port, and making my "usual" emergency superadmin account. It's something I do, to prevent my superadmin or admin account from getting banned. I create an account, named like a cryptical password. And also - like all my accounts a cryptical password of at least 20 characters. This way, if I'm logged on my usual admin account, and someone blocks my user and IP, i can go to a different computer and use the
2nd admin account.

Dunno if anyone else can use the hint - but you are free to use it if you like.

Then I made the settings, like welcome messages and all that bs. And started creating channels. And so far, everything works great.

If anyone has a clue, as to why my weblogin suddenly work - I would like to know.

And also, any information on how to drastically improve the security of the TS server, without having to know 10 books on MySQL, PHP, commands, cmd.exe, and shell modifications, it would be greatly appriciated :D

Cheers,
NicoLeise

Finally - I've been able to pinpoint the problem :D

I finally got some consistency in my test results.

When you click Administration in the rightclick menu of the trayicon for the server - i opens your browser, using the adress

http://localhost:xxxxx (Where xxxxx is the HTTP port, set by the user for the admin panel)

And when I follow that procedure - I get the problem described in the first post.

However, when I manually type in my IP and Port, it works.

F.ex. : http://ip.ip.ip.ip:xxxxx (Where xxxxx is the http port, and ip.ip.ip.ip is my WAN ip adress)

When doing like that, I can log on fine, and admin the server. I really don't get that. Could someone help clearify, why my IP, and the substitute "localhost" is not the same - and why the fault seems to be in the TeamSpeak trayicon, and not in my hands.

(Just to clarify : My WAN IP and LAN IP are identical)

(Yes, I have doublecheked, there are no difference in the port, when TS tries, and when I put it in. )

Anyways, I am happy to have the problem solved, but it would be great for future references, to have someone spot the problem :)

Take care all.

I have the Exact (and I mean Exact) same issue. I have still not figured out why it works when putting the IP direclty but not when using the system tray icon. Just thought Id post to let you know you're not alone :)

I recently signed up with teamspeak, and I am supposed to be the admin of the whole dam thing. The problem is, is that it puts a u flag on my screen name and does not list me as an admin. I can't do anything on my own server and got nothing fixed on my admin log on screen . How do I fix this?

Admin rights don't come out of nowhere. You will have to tell your server who you are.

By the way: When installing the server, there was an important window with all your passwords. I hope you wrote them down as you where told to do.

1) If you really judge yourself that hard and if that's true => do not host a TS or any other server. Hosting servers requires a bit knowledge, which you don't seem to have ? Servers are not made for idiots

2) Your problem description is very vague and difficult to understand (what exactly did you do, where,....)
