I've been having a chattering issue when I use TS2 lately that is becoming progressively worse. I have changed none of my settings for TS2 or on my comp for.. almost two years now and TS2 always worked fine before. My drivers are up to date, and I run XP. The problem is when others talk to me they start to break up and make this chattering noise instead for a few minutes. They can hear me fine while this issue occurs, but I can't hear them at all. This is not a constant thing- say once every 15-20 minutes, but as I said before it is getting progressively worse. I was just wondering if there is a conflict with my sound card or if there was a way to correct this problem.

could it be connected with a increase of the ping / packet loss ?

I dont know. It happens randomly, and never happened before a few monthes ago at all on this comp. It doesnt matter if I am accessing the net via dial up, wireless or cat 5 either, it occurs on all internet connections

- if it happends in a reproducible timeframe (each 15 - 20 min) it could be due to a rogram runnin in the background causing WAN traffic ?

- I'd look at the ping during the time you get this noise, is it increased ?

- It could also be a sound driver problem (you coudl try wave or direct sound in TS) ?

you will have to do some testing on your side to get more info on that.

I tried changing the Codec, and while it seemed to work it first, it started happening again. It doesnt happen EXACTLY every 15-20 minutes- sometimes it happens within 5 minutes of each other, other times i'll go out to half an hour. I thought it might be a sound driver issue, but with no changes to either TS or my sound driver in that time is that at all likely?

I have no idea what else you've installed, updated,... on your PC so almost everything is likely.
Since this effect is new to me I assume only very few users (or only you) are affected and it's therefore probaly not a TS problem but a driver,... you'll have to look at everything you changed / installed in the past.

The only TS "thing" I could think of (apart WAVE or DIRECT sound, by the way, did you tested that ? I'm not talking about the codecs but the sound driver) is the hidden file Teamspeak.conf which sometimes starts to go crazy. Backup and deleted it, but I think it's most likely not the problem :p

I did try switching to wave and there is no real difference. Also, if the number of users is limited- 1 to 2 people- it doesnt seem to happen. However, with four or more people it happens more often.

I will try to remove and reinstall TS and see if that helps as soon as possible

that would be an indication for a bandwidth problem, e.g. a temporally bandwidth problem. As if an other application would use bandwidth at these times ?
