I'm looking for a way to play mp3 files for my friends over Teamspeak.
I know that I can set the windows recording settings to stereo-mix instead of mic, but then everything they're talking will be echoed back to them (unless I mute them).

I searched for a winamp output plugin that whould mix the winamp output with my microphone input, or 'disguise' it as line-in, so that I could select line-in in the windows settings, but I could't find anything.

A program that recives sound via a port and then mixes it with mircophone input whould work, too, I guess, since there are winamp output plugins that send the sound to a certain port.

Is there any tool or plugin available that could achieve what I'm looking for? Or any other way to do this? Any help whould be really appreciated.

Here is another way
One a seperate machine run winamp and teamspeak client. Have the stereo mix selecting in recording control. Then have the client join the channel you're in and mute its speakers (in teamspeak) so it won't pick up what is being played in teamspeak.

Thanks for your replies.

Having a second machine to play the music is indeed a very clever way. Sadly I don't have a second machine to do this :(

The guide of the link in the second answer explains what I tried to sum up in my second sentence of the original post. Of course it works, however when doing this you have to mute the other people and wont be able to use the mic anymore. So while you play music you can't take part in the conversation.

I have not tried this but its worth a try. (You need a second sound card added to your system)

TS2client - Settings - Options - Input Device - "sound card 1"
""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" - Output Device - "sound card 2"

Windows - Volume Control - Properties - "sound card 1" - Recording - Mic + Stereo Mix
""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" - "sound card 2" - Playback - Wave

Music player to output to "sound card 1"

Connect Mic to "sound card 1"
Connect Headphones to "sound card 2"
Connect Amplified Speakers (with volume control) to "sound card 1"

They should hear you talk and music from music player
You will hear them talk in headphones.
You will hear music on speakers (low low volume for your listening pleasure so mic wont pick up music)

CONCERNS:
Push to talk will only play music while button pushed
Vioce activation will be always on except maybe between songs
You will always be transmitting so mic will not be shut off unless you mute mic manually
Bandwidth usage will be higher.

You wont have to worry about "notification sounds" seeing that input and output are split up to two differant devices

sounds fun let us know how it turns out. :)
