I've seen several posts here about, TS servers being offline or timeout kicks and wanted to ask a couple of quick questions.
First please dont post that FAQ default response here, as I have read it and so has my admin. Most of the time our TS server is fine. However over the last couple of weeks we are getting the timeout kick / server is not running messages.
Today we had a visitor who's name stated they were unhappy about our TS, a few moments later everyone gets kicked out.
Is there some kind of new DOS attack, or other exploit open to the general ignorant at the moment that is allowing them to easily knock over a TS server?
FYI: our server is public and open to all, we suspect the culprit is either on dialup or using some kind of proxy to mask their IP, and as with most people banning an IP range would result in many of our legit visitors also getting banned.
Can you point me at any tools or settings that could prevent this.
Note: We are not the host admin, but our host is out of options for preventing this.
TIA for any help and / or advice
