Like so MANY other people out there my mates and I spent days reading through all the forums and reconfiguring firewalls and port settings on routers only to still have no luck.

Then one genius mate said why don't we fool TS into thinking we're all on a virtual LAN rather than a WAN and bypass the router settings all together!

Here is how you do it.

Download and install the latest TS client and server software
Download and install Hamachi (http://www.hamachi.cc/download)
Setup Hamachi - pretty straight forward
Now when you check your IP addresses in the bottom right hand corner in TS you'll have a 3rd IP address. If you can't see it then just look at Hamachi, it has you virtual server IP address at the top.
AT the Connect to server screen in TS:
Use this IP address together with the 8767 port number to conect to your TS server.
Tick the "allow server to assign nickname box"
Tick the "auto reconnect box"
Tell your friends the IP address of your virtual server and get them to follow the above instructions.

Hamachi creates a virtual server for you so you don't have to worry about configuring ports and firewalls etc.
I swear I worked on TS for almost a week with no luck  but after adding Hamachi to the equation we were all able to set-up TS servers in a couple of minutes! ;) I kid you not it was that simple! And rightly so, it should be that simple.
Thanks TS, top program.

Has anybody tried this? I still can't get it to work.

Hmm... I have looked at the website and I see that it's not a true VPN (It runs your traffic through their servers), and I think that most people can go without using it. But, I will try this soon.

if yiur inet is right and you can play lan games over hamachi Teamspeak also has to work over hamachi

Sorry to be so thick...
I'd only need to install Hamachi on my TS Server box, right?

The 3rd IP address (the one in the Hamachi UI box) is the one I'd share with others to have them join my TeamSpeak network?

This is all very complicated to ordinary people.

Thanks,
DDavis

This program is creating a VPN throughsomeone elses system. I wont use something like that unless I control the VPN. I just sounds stupid

Uh, yeah, ok. After using this, I remembered that I had used this before. It is not very practical for TS. You need the server and everyone that wants to join it, to have and be running the program, AND be in the same hamachi network. Which isn't that hard to do, but, it would be a pain to make everyone install it to connect to your server. Although, if you are a security freak, this is good for you, because to even join the Hamachi network your server is on, you need to know the password.

VERDICT: Don't use unless absolutely needed.

No I think their saying the connecting computer has to have this too

How do you find out the password?

How do you find out the password?Well, you can either make your own Hamachi Network, with your own name and password, or if you want to join an existing one, you need to know the password. So, if you know the owner of one, ask him/her the password, and you'll know it. It's pretty straightforward. There is even a very simple yet helpful tutorial when you first install it.

Anything that would work in a normal LAN I think.

Yep. Also, the server-side variable: BoundToIp should work too.

Then goto the website. goteamspeak.com is only for Teamspeak.

I will admit the guy who posted how to do all of this in the first place isn't fibbing about it only taking 5 minutes or less. But once i had it setup and working on my main computer, I soon figured out that any clients connecting to your TS server through Hamachi had to be running Hamachi and be on the same server addy as you are, so this in my mind isn't the best way to set one up.. Reason for me trying it was i am behind a Netgear router and wasn't thinking about a port needing opened.

Just as I stated earlier in this thread.

One use's of Hamachi that I have found is using Radmin. It's very convinient when the other person doesn't know how to port forward. I will tell my friends that need help on his computer to install Radmin server and hamachi, then get him to join the VPN that I made so I can take over his computer and fix whatever needs fixing. It also adds another security layer because they have to be on the VPN which meens they would have to know the username and the password of it. Then they would have to know the Radmin server password.

So for ppl to connect to ur ts running by hamachi they MUST HAVE HAMACHI?

Bastian
29-05-2006, 17:17
Exactly. Hamachi was designed to simulate a local area network so you can play older games wich lack internet support on the internet. This works like a charm with GTA2 or Age of Empires, but TeamSpeak is not the type of application you normally use Hamachi for.

If they are on the same network, then you just defeated the purpose of Hamachi! just connect to your server through it's LAN IP.

Yes, give them your Hamachi provided IP, then make sure that they are on your Hamachi Network.

Or, you could just make it a whole lot easier and justm set the server up the right way.

This is not a VPN support forum. This is only for Teamspeak. So... sorry, talk to the people that make Hamachi.

This thing can be useful for games like counter strike: source. Thats if u dont want to run a deicated server.
