Like so MANY other people out there my mates and I spent days reading through all the forums and reconfiguring firewalls and port settings on routers only to still have no luck.

Then one genius mate said why don't we fool TS into thinking we're all on a virtual LAN rather than a WAN and bypass the router settings all together!

Here is how you do it.

Download and install the latest TS client and server software
Download and install Hamachi (http://www.hamachi.cc/download)
Setup Hamachi - pretty straight forward
Now when you check your IP addresses in the bottom right hand corner in TS you'll have a 3rd IP address. If you can't see it then just look at Hamachi, it has you virtual server IP address at the top.
At the Connect to server screen in TS:
Use this IP address together with the 8767 port number to conect to your TS server.
Tick the "allow server to assign nickname box"
Tick the "auto reconnect box"
Tell your friends the IP address of your virtual server and get them to follow the above instructions.

Hamachi creates a virtual server for you so you don't have to worry about configuring ports and firewalls etc.
I swear I worked on TS for almost a week with no luck  but after adding Hamachi to the equation we were all able to set-up TS servers in a couple of minutes! ;) I kid you not it was that simple! And rightly so, it should be that simple.

Seriously guys, forget all the posts about firewalls and router settings, this works and it's fast.

Hey TS admin chaps - is there any chance you could build this type of mod into your next version of TS  so even your noob can make use of the program with just a couple of clicks rather than working through port forwarding issues and pages of forums? Please don't burn me here, I'm trying to be constructive - I really like the program.

Thanks TS, top program.:D

Interesting idea. The program looks very clean and well made. I would like further explanation of how the UDP port 8767 gets threw the router firewall of the person hosting the server without opening the port on the actual router.

probably relies on UPnP being enabled
