Hey People!
I saw that somebody was talking about something with myname.no-ip.org
Could somebody plz tell me how it works, so I can get a dynamic IP !! what shall i type in where it says "myname" and how does the rest work ??
dunno, i use www.dyndns.org
5 dynamic dns entries, 5 static ones and some redirects as well.
and they have a nice linux update tool (ddclient) which is easy to configure and even easier to install.
they're also very reliable. i've been running a home webserver for one and a half years straight now and only once dyndns was down for a few hours (they were moving at that time).
What you mean is a STATIC ip.. an IP that does not change..A dynamic IP changes..
Anyway.. I use No-ip.com because my ISP does not have static ips for sale.. What you need to do is go to www.no-ip.com download their client software and install it.. then set up some names what ever you want.. run the client software and ur set.. what the client software does is sends your current ip address to no-ip.com and they update their database or what ever so when someone types in whatever.no-ip.com it directs it to you..
