View Full Version : Help with server IP adress!
Hello!
I think I probably know the problem, with why I can't connect to my server, which I have created. Would you mind telling me how I figure out my ENTIRE IP adress? I mean, I know it's something like 162.168.0.0 but then there is something after than, like 162.168.0.0:33890 Please, tell me how to figure this out, thank you
I'm completely new at this...
162.168.0.0
That is the LAN IP for your computers. I.E. 192.168.0.101
33890 That is a port number.

OHHHHHH!!! ok, thank you, so I should just put the port number into the 'connect' box right? The one that I am using
Ah! Goodness! I tried it again, it keeps saying "No reply fropm server."
Why is it doing this? I checked for firewalls and everything, this is annoying...
I have to connect to the client from my IP adress? Is that correct? and I have to enter the IP adress with the port number right?
If you are using the default port 8767 UDP for your teamspeak server, simply click "connection" at the top of your client. Then click "quick connect" and in the server address area enter the LAN IP, I.E. 192.168.0.101 or whichever one is your servers IP. If you are running the teamspeak server and the client on the same computer enter localhost into the server address area.
If you are using a different port UDP Port you must enter something like 192.168.0.101:33890
or whichever port you are using.
(The 192.168.0.101 is just an example IP that I made up!)

Localhost? What is that? I am using the server and client on the same computer.
O.K. I entered "localhost" if that was what I was supposed to infact do, however now it says that I am entering a bad login name/password? Which I am not, the login name is optional right? and the password is what I set my server password to, and I enetered that, what the heck is wrong?

Local host is exactly like it states your server is hosted locally ( on the same PC). If you are looking for the IP you need to connect to your server (assuming you are running windows version) right click the icon in lower right on your start menu bar.
You should get a menu list with "admin" / "your IP's" / "exit". Highlight "your IPs" and (assuming you have a router) you should have two IP numbers listed.
The top one is your local LAN IP that your router is assigning your PC, this is the address you enter when YOU are connecting to the server. The second is your WAN IP the number your ISP (cable or dsl company) assigns your connection. The WAN IP is the address you give your buddies who are connecting to your server from the internet.
good luck,

When you get your IPs on the start menu bar from my previous post, there should be icons beside them, the local IP has a little computer beside it, this is the one you would use. The WAN IP has a little globe beside it, this is the one you tell your friends to connect with.
Well that I knew, but when I tried that I got the thing saying I'm putting in the incorrect login/password, but I wasn't... now I tried the "localhost" and did that correctly, now it says the socket error message!
ok, and I just did the thing you told me to, but now it says socket error#11004
