Satellite, Teamspeak = Issues :(

Prior to this morning I had been using dialup. Except for the occasional hiccup TS worked fine for me on a 40 dialup connection which is slow.

This morning I had wild blue satellite internet installed and since than TS does not work.

Problem -

When on an alliance server with alot of people my ping is anywhere from 1800 to 3000 and my latency 10% to 34%.

When I am on regular clan server my ping is 500-1000 and my latency is in the low % but still no one is able to understand me or making out anything I say.

I downloaded the newest nvidia MB driver which has an ethernet driver with it and that did not solve my issue :(

Any idea's on what the problem is or is Satellite and TS NEVER going to work?

Internet by satellite is provided by geosynchronous satellites. Some satellite ISPs offer bidirectional satellite connections, others need a conventional upstream.

Suffice to say geosynchronous satellites orbit the earth at a height of about 36000km. Light travels at a speed of 3 * 10^8 m/s or 3 * 10^5 km/s. The signal has to go up to the satellite and back to the surface so we have a way of roughly 72000km the radio waves have to travel. This means the signal has a travel time of about a quarter of a second, not counting any delays from routing in the earth uplink station, inside the satellite or in the rest of the internet.

You can install any drivers you want, but you can't patch the physics of reality.

to make it short:

Satelite connections might offer good bandwidth, but they are VERY slow. Unless you change to a different broadband access (cable, xDSL,...), there's no way to fix your problem.
Satelite connections are good for applications which are not dependent on a high connection speed (meaning low ping) such as email, websurfing,... but for TS, online gaming,... def. not the choice you want.
