View Full Version : Problem with static noise

First of all I have searched FAQs, forums, and whatnot in order to solve my problem. I found people with similar problems from a long time ago (previous versions of Teamspeak) and references to more recent problems where the issue was never solved.

Anyways,

While silmultaneously using Teamspeak and Battlefield 2, after 10 minutes or so my teammates will cry out because my mic will produce harsh, static noise that prevents them from hearing me (I use push to talk activation, so it only makes noise when i push the key to talk). It does not always happen, and I can't seem to find a direct connection between something I do and the problem, it seems to just happen spontaneously.

The only way to end the problem is to completely shut down the computer. Simply closing down Teamspeak, Battlefield 2, or both does not solve the problem. When I do attempt to shut down the computer it takes much longer to do so (3 or so minutes instead of the usual 30 seconds).

My current settings are to use Direct Sound. I suppose I could try using Wave but my sound card is a pile of crap (Creative SB Live! series) and I suspect it wouldn't work very well, but it maybe worth trying anyways. It's just the last time I used hardware for sound I ended up with all sorts of glitchy sounds which updated drivers did not fix.

Any helpful response would be appreciated.
