All I just started having this issue. I've been running my TS server for about 2 years now with no issues. Recently people have been complaining about extreme choppiness. I logged in and tried to have a conversation with a friend, but with just the two of use on the entire server I couldn't even understand him. I only have the Codex at Speex 7.2 Kbit. I thought maybe my old pc running it was the issue so I built it on my fedora 3 box only moving over the server.ini and server.dbs files. Unfortunately the problem still exists. The only thing that has changed recently is I had to replace my Linksys router with another Linksys router. I have all ports being forwarded, etc.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

check your server's resources
from the shell, type in top
if your cpu or memory usage is very high you will have problems

No problem there Maggy. I'm only around 3% CPU utilization and 300mg of my 512. I am going to blow away the server.ini and server.dbs files and see if a brand new copy works. I'll let you know. Thanks. If anyone has any other ideas I'm definatly all ears.
Thanks!
I have the same problem with choppy voices. we can have 5 people in fine no issues.. get 16 or 24 in and no one can hear anything. the server is a dual 3gb with 4 gb ram.. can't be hardware.. :)
how about your network location and condition?
do clients report experiencing packet loss?

did you noticed that 16 or even 24 people require A LOT more bandwidth then 5 users ? Your server spec will def. not be the bottleneck. A FAQ thread deals with required bandwidth, so pls read that first
