Help! Can't connect to server

My friend gave me his IP, from which he is running the server. I entered my nickname, the server IP, and the server pass, leaving the username blank. Do I have to have a port? it suggests to me that maybe the server is not running, or maybe teamspeak is not on it. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

it seems to me as if you were too lazy to read the getting started section (http://www.goteamspeak.com/index.php?page=tutorial_a) and probably as we lthe FAQ dealing with the "no reply" error. Pls do your homework: read the forum rules, FAQ,... and give us information as you are requested to do, thx
