I noticed that there are a lot of questions, comments, concerns on securing your server and people being able to "hack" into servers. My question is this an issure that is related to windows based servers or linux based or both??? Seeems to me if you have a linux machine and your application is running under a user and not root that a hacker would not be able to do too much "damage" to the machine.
Also why on earth would you allow an open port, webaccess, to be open at all...why not just post your user name and password for anyone to gain access!!!

Most of the time it is NOT hacking. A moron with SA will be stupid enough to right click and press E on a persons name. Other ways to secure server include editing what SA can do and having all SA's have stronger passwords. Background programs such as anti-flood daemon and ts2perlmod also help. Finally, the server should have the must up-to-date version, currently 2.0.22.3 BETA. So, to answer your question, I don't really think one OS is more secure than the other in relation to a teamspeak server.
