View Full Version : People can't log on to my server (TS2 2.0.20.1)

This is my first time hosting a TS server, and it's being a real pain. Nobody besides myself can log on. The error message says something along the lines of 'could not connect to server, maybe server is offline or teamspeak is not running it', even though I'm logged in just fine.

I've read the FAQ, and followed the instructions about the server.ini thing where you modify the ipbind, and it's still not working. I've been fiddling with the superadmin, trying to figure out if it's a setting that's keeping other people from joining, but so far, no luck. I made sure that the other users put in the information right, and it's just not being cooperative. Nobody else can ever log on, they consistently and constantly get the error message.

My operating system, if I understand this correctly, is Windows XP (I think), I really have no idea about the sound card or driver, I just know I've never had problems with TS before.

The game that I want to use this for is Guild Wars, an online rpg.
I'm sorry, I don't know what Direct X is, so I can't give info on that.

I'm not sure what the problem is, or how to fix it, can someone give me a hand, or tell me the place to look for the answer?

Thanks.

Hey,

Do you have a router? If so have you opened the ports needed? If not go here (http://www.portforward.com).

Have you given them the correct IP address?

You didn't read the FAQ carefully enough. The FAQ answer you are talking about doesn't match your problem description.

People who are using a home router (NAT) CAN'T connect to your server, but they CAN connect to other servers.
People connected directly to internet, CAN connect to your server.
The machine that is running the server has more than one ip number.

You have the problem that nobody besides you can connect to your server. And these are the answers you are looking for:

FAQ: My server shows multiple IPs. Which one do people have to use? (http://www.goteamspeak.com/index.php?page=faq&id=4&item=25#q57)
FAQ: How do I configure so that the server allows WAN access? (http://www.goteamspeak.com/index.php?page=faq&id=4&item=25#q25)
