View Full Version : WAN Address?

I made my own TS Server for my clan. It is just running on my computer using Windows XP Home. I have it up in running, except for one problem that I will mention at the end. People can log in just fine with some exceptions. The only problem is the ip for the server is my actual computer IP. It starts with 68 just so you know that it is real. People say something about using your WAN address, but I don't really know what that means. Any help on that would be helpful. I have a D-Link DI-524.

Now for the second part. Some people can't get into my server sometimes. Then out of nowhere they can. It is really random. I have the default port open (8767 I believe) and nothing else. Should I open the other 2? It said it might be a security risk, and I don't want a hacker especially with giving away my real IP to my clan which I hope to change. I saw other posts about this, and it seems only people with routers can get in about 40% of the time. I don't know why this is, I did the thing in the FAQ, but then my server wouldn't work at all. Any help? (this seems to be a problem with D-Link routers but I am not possitive about that)

edit: Under my IPs when I right click the server program I have a LAN IP and my Computer IP. This is currently my WAN address from what I understand. I just don't feel confortable giving away my IP address for a ts server is you know what I mean. I just want a way to kind of hide it, unless you don't think it is a safety issu.

THANKYOU
