View Full Version : D-Link, Some Users Can't Connect!
First off since the moderators get mad if you don't follow the rules exactly I will post everything. This is a comon problem that I have seen about 5 or 6 times around the boards, and still no recognition or fixes. I wish I could contact the teamspeak team or something because this gets a annoying.
TeamSpeak version: TeamSpeak 2 2.0.32.60
Operation System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2
Soundcard: Realtek HD Audio (integrated)
Driver Version: 5.10.0.5034
Game: Warrock (not that it really matters...)
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
Error message: "No reply from server Maybe server is offline or maybe teamspeak is not running on it" (that is the error other people that are having problems getting in get)
How often does the error appear: This happens randomly. One day it will work fine, the next it wont work all day.
What did you try to fix the problem: I upgraded my router's firmware, forwarded all ports, asked other users to forward ports, restarted the server, restarted my computer, tried the help in the FAQ, and reset my router
Now that that is out of the way, let me tell you the problem with the D-Link DI-524. From my own experience, and from looking at other posts of users with the same router here is what I have found. If you are hosting a TS Server from a D-Link DI-524 wireless router, that is where the problem starts. All users not using a router can get in all the time without problems ever. Some people with routers can also get in no problem, sometimes... It is completely random on when they can get in. They will try it and it won't work. Then the next hour without either of us changing anything magically they can get in no problem.
I think the problem is this kind of router. If anyone knows how to get passed this please help. This would help me out greatly, and would also help out anyone else with the same router as me.
THANKYOU
If you truly think that it is the router than direct connect or buy a different brand (such as a linksys router). As I have said time and time again, I think D-Link routers are shit, but that is just me.

D-Link routers aren't shit. I has a Linksys wireless router and I had so many problems with it. Then I sold that and bought the D-Link one, and this is the only problem I have had with it. It would be nice if someone from the teamspeak team would comment on this. Also I don't feel like dropping $30 on something I don't really need. If I did I would just rent a server from someone else.

I would also love an answer for this.
My teamspeak server worked fine with my Linksys B router. Everyone could connect with no error messages. But when we switch to D-Link, more specifically DI-524, it works sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't. There are even times when everyone can get it. There are a few (5 out of 50) people that can get on all the time. For the rest, it's very random.
From this laptop I can connect 100% of the time. From my 2 other laptops, they're part of the "random" group. For the host CPU, it can (obviously) connect 100% of the time.
I started asking people if they had routers or not, and true enough, the ones without routers can get in 100% of the time too.

That is exactly it. I found a partial fix. I unplug my router, then plug it back in once a day. Then the other people can get on with no problem for a few hours. Then if I don't reset the router again, it won't work for them. Very odd. I really don't know where to go to get help on this.

sounds like a problem with the router
are you sure the IP address is the same, also looking in the router log may help you out, its possible your IP is changing or somthing
BTW, i run on practically an all linksys network now, and its 100% rock solid, the only bit that isnt is BT (my ISP) which drops out every other day
Do the users all drop together ? does your internet fluctuate atall at the time when this happens ?

Not to be mean or anything, but did you read my post at all? Of course the IP is the same otherwise no one would be able to log in. Their are about 20 people that try to get in my TS server, and about 5 of them have problems. Once I restart my router, bam problem solved, but not for very long. It is completely random kind of wierd. I know this sounds very very noobish, but how do I check my router log? I know how to do almost everything, but that. I contacted D-Link in an email and they said it sounds like my router is locking up, but that doesn't seem true because then I wouldn't be able to use it.
They told me to disable the UPNP Settings. I just did this today, and so far so good. I hope it continues to go well. (it's under tools, misc)
Good Luck everyone, and if you have anymore suggestions let me know because I don't know how long this is going to be working.
PS (users never get logged off or anything, just some of them have trouble gettin in the server in the first place. It is at completely random times too)

http://support.dlink.com/emulators/di524_revc/help_status.html
seems to have information on the log
I dont have your router so i cant direct you exactly
Also you might want to check your teamspeak log, although i doubt that will help
which is in TeamspeakServer\server.log
It works perfectly now! Here is the fix for anyone with the d-link DI-524 router.
To disable UPNP:
Windows ME
Go to Start>Settings>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs, click on the Windows Setup Tab, double click on Communications, and uncheck Universal Plug and Play.
Windows XP
Go to Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove programs, click on Add/Remove Windows Components, scroll down to Networking Services, and uncheck Universal Plug and Play.
Check the log on your router. Is it showing a large amount of traffic? If coming from 1 IP address, you may want to use the IP Filter to block that user.
Check the log settings and uncheck some of the items the router will report.
Check your firewall and virtual server settings on the router. Too many may degrade performance of the router.
Upgrade firmware at http://support.dlink.com/downloads. If you have the latest version, flash it again.
Good Luck!
