Newb - How to make ur own free server?

Hello, all TS Forum members. :cool:

I have just decided to download Teamspeak, since I don't know how to use Ventrilo. I would like to set up a free TS server for my clan when we have rooms open so we can talk while playing. Is that possible?

I am really new at this, so please don't tell me: search or anything of the kind, because I did search, and the manual didn't give me the information I needed. :eek:

Try to be as specific as possible if you can, so I don't get screwed up. :D So, this is my question:

How do I set up a free TS server? :confused:

Short version:

1) Download and install the TS Server software
2) (assuming Cable/DSL connection) setup Port Forwarding on your router
3) Enable inbound traffic on your firewall software
4) Tell your friends to connect to your WAN IP Address

Now, there may be a few terms in there that frighten or confuse you, if that's the case, I'd suggest doing a quick google search networking basics.

Detailed directions are in the manual, and the FAQ, or can be found by searching the forums with the forum search listed above (and there are also assorted tutorials in the Support forums). You're not likely to get anyone to re-write detailed directions since they're already all over the place.
