I performed quite a bit of research and testing of both TeamSpeak2 and Ventrilo before I decided to go with TS2. The primary reason I chose TS2 was because of the lack of a concurrent seat limitation (Ventrilo denies more than 8 concurrent connections with their free version, TS2 is limited only by bandwidth) - which, by the way, is totally awesome.
The only lingering problem I have in the Ventrilo vs. TeamSpeak2 battle is the lack of viable voice collision management. When four people talk at the same time in TeamSpeak2, they're all played back at once - which obviously comes out like noisy gibberish. Ventrilo would temporarily lock the channel when someone spoke, meaning that you would always be able to clearly and audibly hear what the person said without having to set up a moderation scheme.
To crystallize the concept, I've never heard the phrase "go ahead" repeated so much in my life.
Is there a solution available for TeamSpeak2 which provides similar collision management to Ventrilo, other than Moderating the channels? If not, are there any plans to implement such a concept in future releases of TeamSpeak?
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!
