View Full Version : How Do i make my own server in teamspeak
I am having trouble finding out how to make my own server in teamspeak if someone could help me and instruct me on how to do that thnx. :D
Step 1.
Download TeamSpeak Server
Step 2.
Install TeamSpeak Server
Step 3.
Start The TeamSpeak Server by clicking on the icon.
Step 4.
Right Click On The Server In Your System Tray, Click IP's, and click on your IP, probably the top one if there's two.
Step 5.
Open Teamspeak, and connect to your IP!
Hope that helps

As lqcorsa said, but there's also:
Identifying your WAN IP address, setting up Port Forwarding on your router, and making Exceptions for inbound traffic on your firewall.
If reading through the MULTIPLE forum messages on this very topic doesn't help you, you'd probably be better off renting a server from an Authorized Hoster (http://sales.tritoncia.com/hosters.php).

as Wolfstar said, but.. lol...
identify ALL parts of your network and how your network is configured. set a dedicated static ip for your server making sure it's not within the DHCP scope. If you are using DSL, good chances is that your DSL modem is an acting router and you may have to set that to passthrough to your router or configure your modems port to forward to your router.
Be aware, if you don't know what you are doing. you are better off leaving it to someone else to host it.
But, you asked... I usually tell people to draw out your network. even if its 1 computer. A picture is worth a 1,000 words.

then just write down what you need to do on the diagram. After that, start configuring starting with the ISP.

Generic "my friends/users can't connect" checklist:
1) Are they connecting to your WAN address (www.whatismyip.com)
2) Are the ports forwarded from your rotuer to the TeamSpeak Server on your LAN? (www.portforward.com)
3) Have you made an exception for Inbound UDP traffic on port 8767 in your software firewall(s)? This includes the Windows Firewall which is ON by default in Windows XP SP2
4) Is the server running? (test by connecting to it yourself)

and dont forget, dsl modems can be routers too.
