Ok... I am new at this stuff.. so bare with me..

I just got TS2 and TS2 server.

I followed the directions that were shown here in this post: http://forum.goteamspeak.com/showthread.php?t=1937

I got my server to appear in the webserver lists, but when I click connect, It says:

[22:47:32] Connecting to **.**.***.**:****
[22:47:35] No reply from server
Maybe the server is offline
or maybe teamspeak is not running on it
(I put the stars in to blank out my IP)
Then, I asked my friend, who wants to connect to my server, to go in the webserver list and filter for my server.. he comes up with a blank screen.

But, if I went into Connection > Quick Connect and typed in my LAN IP, It would connect to my server no problem. But when it uses my WAN IP, it gets the
[22:47:32] Connecting to **.**.***.**:****
[22:47:35] No reply from server
Maybe the server is offline
or maybe teamspeak is not running on it
message.

I did my best to explain what I did.. so if anyone can help, I'd appreciate it. :D

Hi,

so your server is running and available for the lan. If it is not available for the wan then because teamspeak is not reaching it. That means somekind security software or hardware is blocking its udp port (standard is 8767). Forward the ports and you will suceed.

Mariusz

If you're running the server and client on the same box, you'll *only* be able to connect via the LAN (or via "localhost") - most routers don't like to forward LAN traffic to their WAN interface and redirect back in.

The WAN address is only for people *outside* your network (in most cases, your home).

I'm not sure what would cause your friend to get a blank result from the WebAdressBook, but here's the general checklist for setting up a TeamSpeak server.

Generic "my friends/users can't connect" checklist:

1) Are they connecting to your WAN address (www.whatismyip.com)
2) Are the ports forwarded from your rotuer to the TeamSpeak Server on your LAN? (www.portforward.com)
3) Have you made an exception for Inbound UDP traffic on port 8767 in your software firewall(s)? This includes the Windows Firewall which is ON by default in Windows XP SP2
4) Is the server running? (test by connecting to it yourself)

Well, unless you have more than a standard home grade router that supports NAT Loopback

True. I should edit and add "most" before "rotuers".

By the way: this is also mentioned in our FAQs (http://www.goteamspeak.com/index.php?page=faq&id=4&item=25#q25).
