View Full Version : Admin rights?
hi everyone.
i've just tried ts2 for the first time and checked the docs and all but i wasn't able to check any of:
*auto-operator
*auto-voice
*operator
*voice
they are all appear in grey.
i too don't know how to create a "super-admin". there's no checkbox or alike in the linux client.
what can i do?

Short but sweet answer:
First: You would have to be registered with the server, and then set up your client to use that username and password any time you connect to that server.
Second: The admin of that server would have to give you admin rights to the server or the channel in order to change AO, AV, O, and/or V rights.
You didn't specify if you were connecting to your own server or someone elses.
oh... hehe
i'm connection to my own server. i log in as admin (with the password that is written in the server.log).

As long as you are logging in as a registered user with admin rights, it should work.
FYI: Super admin rights are not necessary to assign AO AV (I just tested this on my server. :) )
AH! I missed one thing. The channel has to be moderated in order to give yourself those rights, which makes sence if ya think about it. Only moderated channels need to be assigned an Operator and only admins and operators assigned to that channel can allow/disallow others to Voice, Auto-Voice, or Auto-Op.
To see what I'm talking about, edit the default channel or create a new channel and put a check next to Moderated. Switch to that channel and right-click on your nic and the options will be available. :)
SUGGESTION: Create a new user account with SuperAdmin and Admin rights and use THAT account for your TSClient sessions. I've accidently killed my admin status before, and if I didn't have the Admin account as my backdoor, I would have had to redo the database from scratch. :(
sadly i have no clue how to make a super-admin. would you mind of telling me that? btw... thx for your help.

Easy. Go into the Web Admin interface of your TS server, click on the User Manager link, the rest should be self-explanatory and covered in the FAQ and/or the User Manual. :)
Remember: SuperServerAdmin is NOT required for assigning O, V, AO, and AV rights to users. :)
perfect this worked. i forgot to set it to moderated, as you suggested. thx :)
Ok, Ok, I give..... Where is this user manual for the SERVER that I keep reading about? Can't find one anywhere. I have no idea what all those areas in the admin fields are for.
