Dual Core + Game = Skipping?

Howdy there,

I've got a problem with Teamspeak RC2 while playing the game EVE Online. I think it happens with other games too but I can't be sure at this time. Every 2-5 minutes I get an entire system skip. The game will hold frame for a couple seconds and sound on Teamspeak will jerk and will skip for the same amount of time. I know this because I can watch the FRAPS counter tell me so. After this the computer recovers and is fine for another 2-5 minutes. This issue does not occur with Ventrilo or any other VoIP software.

I have the dual core hotfix on my computer and the following is my setup:

AMD Athlon X2 4800+
Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS
ASUS A8N-32 SLI Deluxe
2x 10k RPM Western Digital Raptor HDDs
1x nVidia GeForce 7900 GTX
Windows XP Pro, SP2

Anyone got ideas? It's a very annoying "bug."

i got that same problem using my raptor, when i use another HD i dont have that problem.

Wow. . now that's obscure.

I never would have guessed that a brand of HDD + the use of something like TeamSpeak would cause a performance issue.

If I can ask, how did you track it down to the drive being the issue?

I have Quad core, BF2142 install on my raptor, and TS install on my other HDD. I have no problems with any glitch.
